I 7 8700k to 9700k stop gab worth it?

Nah, don't bother, same as with OC, just a waste of time now, another 10% performance won't mean jack compared to an upgrade that will near triple it. Better just enjoy what you have until winter then switch to Zen 4 X3D. Employ some framerate caps in the meantime if you want better frametime consistency and to lessen the load.

I waiting to upgrade to zen 4 but I am now thinking about waiting until amd offer 3D cache version of the chip.

In the meantime I completely forgot that my motherboard supports other coffee lake CPUs including the 8 core 9700k.

Do you think it's a worthwhile upgrade over the 8700k with all 6 cores running at 4.7ghz?

Some games I have noticed putting a lot of pressure on my now dating 6 cores. Spiderman forget at 4k uses 90% of my CPu making me CPu bottleneck another title is hunt showdown that also suffers performance drops that a friend of mine doesn't experience on ryzen with a weaker GPU.

I was thinking along the same lines but swapping my 8700k with a 9900k but even then with the prices of the chip 2nd hand it's not really worth it for the little gain.
