Hey guys,

Some of you know I have been having horrible speed problems with my Virgin Media 10Mbit connection, turns out it was my awful Belkin router all along as I'd never even thought of connecting direct to the modem (which should've been the first thing to do really.)

So, there you have it. I am a moron, and I have a new Linksys WRT54GL on the way. :)

Sincerely yours,
A moron.

Your more of a moron m8 :D, Virgin give away a free good netgear router which gives me full 10mb and can definatley handle 20mb :p.

Guy on the phone never mentioned that. :(

I don't mind buying a good router though as I'll be keeping it for the future.

Hope it works out, i'm using a WRT54G and still getting awful speeds, well, on websites, newsgroups i'm getting 1.5mb/sec+, still using the old NTL proxy addresses and still having no damn luck :(

What speeds do you get now?
I'm back on the crappy router for the moment because I share this internet connection with my brother, but I was getting about 1,200kB/s when my PC was connected directly to the modem so that's about right.

Hoping the new router tomorrow will offer an improvement, otherwise I'm £40 down for no reason.

Much better. :D

I'm ready for 20mbit, my Linux-based router can handle routing/firewalling 850Mbit/s (tested) :D

Do they ? How do you get that ?

/edit - just googled it. Apparently it's only customers of the former TW :(
