I am an idiot!!

I have done exactly the same thing myself.

Until then i hadnt realised how hard it would be to find a high street shop that had a replacement actually in stock. Most would have it delivered to me several days later.

Lucky you didn't get gassed to death. Well probably not really. Don't know what gases they use. Would have been fun for someone to come back and find your body frozen from the inside out and turning some weird purple/green colour from the gases.. no offence.

Refrigerants are usually inert so won't cause any damage, the only risk if you inhale some is asphixiation ;) so a puff in the face from a freezer isn't anything to worry about.

Also the gas won't freeze you from the inside out, refrigerants aren't a magic freezing gas that freeze anything they touch, the cooling process is caused by a rapid drop in pressure after passing through an expansion valve, so unless he had one in his gob and sucked REALLY hard it isn't going to happen :D

Edit: at least you're covered and will get it replaced :)

We have the tumble dryer next to the main freezer, so the hose from the tumble dryer goes into the freezer when we want to defrost it :)

What we did at work:

Filled tubs up with boiling water

Stuck it on the bottom shelf etc and let the steam do the melting

edit:

Your a noob :D
