exactly...

your car and you're the driver and they have no say. just ignore them and forget about the annoyed face your dad may make.

as also said above it is your fault as you was listening to them.. i remember a question coming up in a theory test i did asking if a passenger gave instructions you MUST check for your self.

i do agree that 3/4 of the fault was mine for listening to them, but im not taking 100% resposibility for it.

yea ive read that before for theory questions, but my dad likes to act before he thinks of the concequences, thus this is the result

you havent met my dad. hes bit of a challenge :o

If he's more of a challenge than my dad's father*, I'd be bloody surprised. The trick is to say "I understand what you're saying, but I'm doing it this way. So shut up."

Try it properly. If you tell someone to shut up in the correct way, they generally do. And if they don't, then tune them out completely to the point at which you can't even hear them talking. It's a wonderfully effective way of ignoring people when you can truly pay no attention to what they're saying, rather than hear it and then dismiss it.

* - who I love dearly, mostly because he is a challenge. If I have a plan, or I'm doing something, or whatever - if he flags up a problem right at the start, I tend to listen. Because he's usually right on some level. There are a few occasions where he isn't, and I always know when that is and know that I have to tune him out at that point.

i do sometimes listen to what my dad has to say, but he thinks i have to all the time. i do tune out, but then he would say "you dont listen to me anymore, youre growing up youve changed" etc hard to please everyone

not sure if this belongs in the GD or motors but here it goes.

so basically ive only been driving for about 2months max, since having my licence last year and only recently got a car. well me, my brother and my dad go to halfords to go get some car mats, seeing as we didnt have any in my car. so we go there all fine, not a word from my brother about my driving (he hasnt passed his or even done his theory) but my dad likes to commentate on everything i do, saying "this isnt how you drive, blah blah blah". yes, hes much more experienced than i am, i agree, but he doesnt understand that each person drives different.

im no speeder or anything of that sort, but when we got home, i ended up doing a reverse park, fine. but when i was about to go in and do my final turn, my dad and brother decided that they would tell me how to "park" rememeber, ive only been driving for 2 months max had licence just a year. they decided to talk and say, "go forward, go back do this, do that" and my dad above all was making stupid noises going "EH EH EHE" telling me to stop and break, which i already did. all i had to do was one more turn and ill be in the space. so i obeyed my brother and went out went back in, etc then my dad decides to add his 2 cents in, and started saying this isnt how you do it:mad: so after a minute or two, i got really frustrated cus this isnt the first time my dad likes to dictate on how "i" should drive. so you guessed it, i manage to dent my car   right now i am cheesed off

so does anyones parents or any person tells you how to drive while youre driving, knowing that YOU can drive perfectly fine without their gob opening and telling you what to and not to do?

sorry for the rant but its really peed me off that ive got a small dent on my car right now, hes my first car, and its my baby :p

There is only one thing to say to anyone in this situation (and before the dent is made) and that is "If you dont like my driving feel free to get out and walk". End of discussion. If you are driving it is your responsibility, not anyone elses.

AWWWWWWWWWW teen angst at its finest, its so unfair ! I hate your MUM AND DAD, I HATE YOU !

/self harms self. :p

Good, then you dont have the guilt of him having to walk all the way home :D

Parents love to wind up their kids, it's what they do :p

My Dad managed to help me get a speeding ticket and wasn't even in the car at the time! :(

hahaha*, pls do tell how this happen :p

*sorry dude!

My dad has conceded that I am better than him ;)

My mum is the worst backseat driver. So much so it messes you up because it annoys you so much. Can only take so much "YOU'RE GOING TO FAST FOR THE CORNER" going 50 round a long sweeping nsl corner with a gap between the two lanes (hatched lines) and "WE DON'T HAVE A STEERING WHEEL TO CLING ON TO", "THAT'S NOT A GAP! DON'T PULL OUT!" when there's a good 10s before the car on the road your joining will get to you..

I refuse to driver her now :o
