ok as many of you may know i posted a thread about vista and if i should get it, well i got it. andi am goin back to xp because what a waste of time vista is! i spend more time trying to get programs to work then using them!

other problems are i get all the right drivers(doubled checked) and vista says it did not install properly when they did aaarrrrrgggghhhh! vista is goin in the bin!
xp is and still is my friend!

Don't throw it away. Put it on your shelf for a while. Vista will get better and will become the best Windows OS one day and you'll be glad you still have a copy when it does. :)

No vista did not say it did not install properly, it said it may not of installed properly & you can tell vista yes or no.

Also you think you can fix everything your self with driver problems & configuration.
Have you even asked for help or looked for new vista drivers for your hardware.

hey Danny, what programs have you found nt to work? I have 32 bit Vista which installed all the motherboard drivers I had to do separately before and it foudn and will run som quite old games such as the GTA series. All my office stuff runs fine too.

I should have thought that newer games would run even better; Flatout 2 runs just fine!

nah its already in the bin, and i will or ordering xp on tuesday i will get vista when is gets better though

 Don't throw it away then. Keep it until it gets better, like you said.

Ordering a new copy, when you had a perfectly good one is just a complete waste of money.

i love vista its clean easy to use and only problem is other things not being ready for it vista is 100% ready and everyone says ohh vistas crap no its not vosta microsoft gave every company long enough to get sorted it was them who didnt bother

I find vista 99.9% fine.

I get the odd problem but nothing much too worry about.

So its ok I like it I play games mainly and they run fine.

So can you send me your copy you put in the bin please. I will pay the postage. :)

Vista is the most stable and reliable OS I have ever used productively, I'm more than pleased with it.

well i have got thr 64bit, hhhmmm all try 32bit vista, also i have got the drivers etc.

al try 32bit

I have been using Vista x64 since Jan,really solid and great for gaming, drivers all work great,I don't know how people cannot install or setup Vista,a 10 year old kid could do it.

Some games you have to run in WinXP SP2 compatibililty mode and select run as admin from compatibility tab of the game concerned.

Btw the other member is right 98% of users don't have problems with Vista,in my experience most problems are not Vista's fault.

I would never go back to crappy XP ,but hey my Vista is purring like a kitten ;).

Why don't you give us a list of programs you want to install and then we can help, tell you which ones will work or not.

I have more trouble getting games to work on my Widescreen than I do getting them to work in Vista.

However you are an 8800 owner, and by the looks of it you like your peripherals! ;) Some drivers are hard to come by, and when they do come along, they're normally quite poor.

I'm sticking with my Vista HP x64 thanks! But as soon as I can afford it, i'm going back to a 4:3 screen. :p

You tried this site
,very useful for widescreen gaming tweaks.

it's funny, i've been using vista for a few months now and have been happy enough without being bowled over. no problems with any applications or games. it does it's job well enough.

but even then i thought it offers me nothing over xp as i'm using 32bit (stupid ancient hardware) or so i thought...... i installed xp in dual boot the other day so i could run the bbc iplayer. and what a difference. it feels really slow and cumbersome compared to vista. i couldn't tell when i used xp on a regular basis but go without it for awhile and you'll notice how much better vista is. well that's my experience anyway..... :p
