I guess it will be more like Omega Man than the book I Am Legend as that had other humans in it as well (I think).
If they don't keep the same ending as the book then it will be a pointless film (for me anyway). As someone else said, the whole point of the story is in the ending, and a very good ending it is too.

Is it just me or does Will Smith actually age? He looks almost identical to how he looked in Independence Day (age wise in the face etc).

Trailer looks good btw. I haven't read the books but looking forward to the film.
