Should get your money back on the cable it will offer nothing over a normal hdmi lead unless you doing long distances!
I thought the signal was digital....if it is then cable quality shouldn't matter at all...
yup hdmi, you either get a signal or not as it's digital. Best get down to poundland for an hdmi cable.
Butters, you are mistaken.
If your theory was correct why do many people need to upgrade their aerials to receive digital reception?
no, not for HDMI you won't. Its digital, the quality of that signal cannot degrade unless it passes through a filter or a converter of some sort (DAC for instance).
Everything in life is analogue, there is no 'pure' digital signal. All digital signals are analogue signals converted either at source or at receiver.
Indeed ! Which is why, eventually the poundland cable will gimp out before the <insert expensive hdmi cable> will.
I purchased a number of different 10m 'poundland' hdmi cables to start with for my panny pt-ae1000e pj. Corruption, sparkles, you name it. I then went and forked out for <insert expensive cable here> 10m hdmi and everything was fine.
The poundland cables worked fine at 720p and even 1080i@50/60hz, but 1080p@50 was a no go. I even sent the 'poundland' cables to someone on here for free, and he even had problems with them.
Richie.
You would get a picture, yes, but it wouldn't be great due to the distance. Also, Cat5e cable is liable to line noise due to its makeup. Each twist in the pair will create a phase shift on the line and introduce noise. HDMI cables do not have this problem.
If you put an HDMI cable from london to NY you'd receive a better picture than the same signal down a CAT5 cable.
