I am running the Virgin London Marathon - please sponsor me if you can :)

Oh good luck to you too! Lucky you getting a spot - how is the training going?

My training is going absolutely awfully. I ended up having a 5 week break over Christmas due to work and family commitments and finding it very hard to get going again. I was doing quite well and was on target to be ready but looking less likely now. Need to go out tonight but wont have time as my other half at work and I need to watch our little boy.

Tomorrow is next day for training so will try for a good solid 6 or 7 miles. Might try for a half marathon at weekend but will depend on weather as I just cannot bring myself to do long runs in the ice and cold. Also wont do the long ones indoors at the gym :(

I looked it up last night and if I book now it costs £59 but a month before it costs about £400.
I told Mrs Dimple I might book it and she went ballistic saying it will kill me.

Kudos if you do it! :p I couldn't do a triathlon let alone one of those crazy things.

Yeah the cold is pretty rubbish :( but at least its JUST cold and not raining!

The most I have done on a treadmill is 10miles I think - its just sooo boring, luckily I live 7miles from work so a run home fulfils one of my run days.

Don't worry about what you've missed out on, focus on what you CAN do :) I find it tough enough trying to fit it in (especially the long runs) and still have a life - because I don't enjoy it... I can't imagine how much harder it would be with a youngster to look after.

Am sure you will be fine, you sound like a regular runner so should be able to pick it up pretty soon :)

I have already donated, but what is this Virgin Money? Similar thing to the Race for Life pages? Looks pretty good. :)

Thanks for the sponsorship. :)

Yes annoyingly because it is now VIRGIN's marathon you have to use their version of JustGiving... annoying because on my JustGiving page I can see what I have fundraised who for and how much.

I guess this is more common now with other events e.g. Race For Life and Sport Relief. JustGiving isn't the best of sites to use anyway, but I have used it mainly because I can see what I have raised as an overview :)

Sponsored Mei, best of luck! =)

Cheers matey! :)

Marathon Update :):

The other weekend I attended a London Marathon seminar. It was truly inspirational :) when they were talking through the whole day I almost had a tear in my eye.

I came out of it quietly confident as I had done all the things they said I should be doing and what point of my training I should be at.

I met one lady who had been told the week before that she was doing the marathon and hadn't started training yet...

Was a really good day and am glad I braved the snow to attend it - was full of good training advice and nutritional advice along with the obligatory sales push thanks to Adidas (and yes all the speakers were wearing Adidas kit ) I didn't need anything but came out with a souvenir T Shirt which I will take with me on Marathon day to change into afterwards :)

In other Marathon news... on 19th March I am going to meet the CEO of the charity that I am running for (IT 4 Children) to visit a couple of the hospitals and some of the kids in the hospitals who benefit from the fundraising.

Last night was my last run before a blustery cold Brighton Marathon on Sunday, would like to pb but to be honest this isn't a race - its part of my training and with plenty of gradients its going to be a challenge in itself to complete. :)

Thanks for the update BB - as I've said before I wish you all the best on this. I've no doubt the rewarding feeling you will soon experience will easily compensate for all those cold, blustery training runs you've done and you'll know yourself it has all been worth it. :)

Awww thanks Mr Skillmister :)

18miles was 3hours 17m on the nose!

Was tough though - first time I had gone out with my running backpack and bladder so had an extra 2kg weighing me down so was slower because of that.

Also got a war wound :( too hot for scarf so took it off and my bag chaffed me :(:

Okey dokey another little update :)

On Sunday I ran Ashby 20miles. 2 x 10mile circuits, hills, dead squirrels, men pooing and cow smells.

Completed it in 3 hours 17 mins and 35 secs which, considering my longest run to date before that was 18.5 miles in the same time is pretty good! :p

Was a great road race... with plenty of water stations where you could also get gels, sweeties and chocolate to keep you going. It snowed driving to the race but soon turned light rain and then sun.

Prior to that I did the Brighton Half Marathon in February and PBed my Half Marathon time which was 2hr and 14secs!!! (Need to get it sub 2 hours!!!).

So... I had the monday off to recover and we went to meet the CEO of the charity that I am running for - IT4CH. We also went to the Whittington Hospital where we visited some of the kids who benefit from the Marathon fundraising.

The CEO of the charity is an amazing woman. She is 75 (!!!) and started up the charity 14 years ago when her daughter was ill and couldn't continue her schooling in the hospital. She runs the charity totally on her own and off her own back - amazing!

She truly was an inspiration it was a great day meeting her and the teachers and kids in the hospital.

To date I have raised £927.40 towards my goal of £1,500 - still a long way to go!

On this date next month I would have completed the Marathon! Aptly my Marathon registration pack arrived today! :)

Going to have a last push for the final £500 - watch this space! :o

Truly amazing what you are doing for these children. :)

I envy your drive to help others, I do!

Next time I get paid and you're still fundraising I will definitely help you reach your target. :)
