Sorry, but I need a place to vent my anger, because I wonder how these big comapnys get away with this quality of hardware.

I've had my Xbox for around a week with GOW Limited Edition Version for around a week and hardly played it. So I start playing it this week and after a few days I'm getting a nice white screen with 'To play this disc, put it in an xbox 360 console. I know Xbox360's whlst powerful, are pretty poorly made, and I'm amazed at how they get away with this. I'm actually very angry.

I've had NES, SNES, Mega Drive, PS1 and PS2 and all were fine and lasted me years - this thing I've bought is just blah, but I must point out that all other games work fine :/

This is jus tstrange, and the GOW disc looks perfect condition too.

Your Xbox is probably buggered then, it's quite common as you probably know. Take it back to the shop or phone up MS to get a replacement.

I've only had it a week, how the hell can it be 'buggered'.

Also, where do I get the number to contact Microsoft and what's the process in returning it.

1) Do they come and collect it?
2) Does it need it's original packaging?
3) Do I keep the HDD?
4) How long will it be till they bring me a xbox replacement?

This is strange, as my copy of COD3 which is totally unmarked has just started to do this and I have never seen this message before in the 13 months I have had two 360's. I don't want to sound alarmist or paranoid, but this only happened to me after the update last week. I have been playing COD3 fine for the last few weeks and the disc has not left the drive. I get the update and then now I get this message 80% of the time when trying to launch the game. It usually takes a few restarts and wipes to finally get it to recognise the disk.

I did the update too last week.

Well, one for the xbox 360 I think, and I think one for the GOW. Since then GOW has been buggered, but everything else; PGR3, SD vs Raw, Fifa 07 and normal DVD's work great.

on my 3rd 360 now, 2nd one lasted 2 days. not bothered by it really as the retailer has replaced it each time without any probs

MS managed to muck up a lot of 360's from another update a few months ago, to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they did it for the second time. I actually want mine to break somehow because its been pulled onto the floor and vibrates a lot of the time :(

IMO its GOW. I had this problem, I got the game on release, and put it straight into my console, after 2 days it stopped reading the disk when on live. I got a replacement, problem solved. Oh and yesterday I tried the limited edition DVD, only to find that the sound doesn't work

So I think there may have been issues with the limited edition disc production

ya, was round at a mates house over new years, and his xbox360 was sat swapped in a plastic bag. i was like wtf your well going to over heat it. turns out its gone duff and awaiting collection.

that is actually his replacement for the first one which went duff and had to be replaced!

the xbox360 fatality rate must astonishing. maybe MS should have hired F@TAL1TY or whatever he's called for the adverts:/

Problem is, those with a fully working Xbox are pretty much safe, but once you get a duff one, you may get stuck in a horrible circle of refurbished Xbox 360s that have a higher chance of going wrong, which is pretty damn bad on Microsoft's Part, hence why we're seeing people with 3-5+ replacements.
