If you ring MS, do you have to send it to them and pay the money yourself?
 
i dont think its your xbox mate. i had a friend who bought gears and had the exact same problem as you. he took the game back to the shop and swapped it for another copy. no dirty errors since. i would try swapping (if you havent done so already), if that still doesnt work, swap it again. i know of people who have had to swap 3 times before they got a working disc. if other games work then i would still think it was the gow disc before i start blaming the console.

I did swap mine 3 times. Still got the dirty disc error. Bought another 360 anyway so plugged that in and both the remaining previously bad copies of GOW I had ran perfectly.

So I swapped the bad 360 with MS and havent had a read error on the disc since. This problem seems to be happening a lot with a newer batch of games GOW R6 and COD3.

Some update or firmware that those games don't like. Easiest thing is to swap discs first.
 
just though id mention,

i had a 360, bought it back in feb last year for my birthday it worked fine with everything , never crashed and neverfroze. it took a few knocks aswell and wasnt exactly int he most "dust free" of places. i eventuly sold it around september for cash to put twards a new pc.

so i missed my 360 and desided to get another for christmas, (btw the first one was core te one i have now is premium) now theone i have got freezes sometimes but not offten. where as my brothers one that he got for christmas dosent read the disks sometimes like the error u are having (was with nfs carbon) so i think that microsof have changed some thing in the console in the last year :eek:

what do u think >?

Its a 360, didn't you know you buy them not to play on, you buy them to keep sending back to M$ everytime they die, as you will know from the ppl who are posting 'im on my 3rd now' etc... theres ppl into double figures, personally if mine died when i had it, it would have been a refund, you think i was going to keep sending 360, after 360 back to M$ all the ******* time, yeah sure, i am stupid, but not that stupid, luckily i got shot of mine before it gave up the ghost.

I wouldn't post saying your on 3x now or whatever, as you will get the certain ppl who are still on their first blaming you, it will be your own fault, they will tell you to take them out of the airing cupboard, they will tell you not put them on top of radiators etc... as they do not die, if your on more than 1x 360, THEN YOUR BUGGERING THEM AS THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH 360's, so beware, no doubt ill get yet another barrage from them as well now for saying the 360's are faulty, but take a look around, theres a fair few ppl here had more than 1x, but still they wont have it as theirs aint gone yet, about time they just faced it, their beloved 360 is buggered, so come on lets have it. :D

Its all a big lie I tells ya. The GPU is made by Cadburys. 100% dairy milk. The original GPU's they left the foil wrapper on. Now they removed it to improve reliabilty. Sadly the cocoa is now going off on the older models causing lock ups.

I believe MS have made money on each console but when you figure in returns I doubt they have made anything. Its poo, but I live with it.

I've had my Xbox for around a week with GOW Limited Edition Version for around a week and hardly played it. So I start playing it this week and after a few days I'm getting a nice white screen with 'To play this disc, put it in an xbox 360 console. I know Xbox360's whlst powerful, are pretty poorly made, and I'm amazed at how they get away with this. I'm actually very angry.

I've had NES, SNES, Mega Drive, PS1 and PS2 and all were fine and lasted me years - this thing I've bought is just blah, but I must point out that all other games work fine :/

This is jus tstrange, and the GOW disc looks perfect condition too.

I feel for you, id be raging to, a week is damn unlucky as they normally die a lot longer after that, you didn't even get to have a decent play on it. :(

BTW these bloody forums are like 360's, always going down, about time they changed the name, Oc360UK or summit, what was it, red ring of light on the server again. :D
