I am trying to write a novel, could do with some help?

you guys know how i can print this, all i keep getting is strange print outs. I want to print it like a book.

Don't just print it as A4 paper, then punch holes through it and use treasury tags to hold it together. read through it when it's on paper and do any handwritten corrections/adaptions that come to mind then get in contact with an agent/publisher who will guide you thought how they want it (if they want it) etc.

Don't forget though, this is the guy who claimed he was running Crysis at high levels on a mid-range budget PC. (link) So, I'm guessing embellishment comes easily here.

I can't believe your still going on about that, i was running it on high and it still runs perfectly. I have even updated now my PC to core 2 duo and made a PC worth £400 able to play crysis on max everything at 30 fps. Just not ulra high as that PC is running XP.

Okay guys please stay on thread, we've all had some laughs.

Please can you help me

I have tried to do some printouts and i am having a lot of problems. I want the printer to print 2 word pages on a piece of a4 paper and then print page 3 and 4 onto the other side of the paper, but i want the pages printed vertically onto the a4 paper. This way i can take my 327 page book and basically get 4 pages to each piece of paper, 2 pages on each side, front and back.

I am hopeless at this, could you please give me some screen shots of the print tab in word to show me how to print this.

many thanks in advance

Go to File -> Print -> Under 'Zoom', select 'pages per sheet' - 2. If your printer prints on both sides, you're good to go. However this is unlikely, in which case you'll have to manually input the page numbers you want to print off, given that you cant just select odd or even numbers by the fact you want two pages per sheet. eg. 1,2,5,6,9,10. Which would obviously get very boring 327 times.

I recommend forgetting this idea and printing one page per sheet, this way you can just select odd/even numbers accordingly. It will make your life easier. If its for your own editting and money is the issue, buy tesco value paper.

I hate printers.

Good luck with the book, I'd love to read a couple of chapters.

Why are you printing it like that though?

For publishers etc you should just be printing it A4. (if they even want it on paper nowadays)

And otherwise just go into pageset up in word it will have an option.

Many thanks for your replies

I have edited my book as much as i can, now i want to print it using the least amount of paper and ink. While still allowing the text to be very readable. I am going to give the print out to a friend that said he would give it a read and do any corrections. The way i want to print it the book should come out on only 82 pages. That's 2 pages to each side, and double sided. So 4 pages per sheet multiplied by 82 pages = 328 pages which is my total page count in word.

I tried the 2 pages per sheet, it didn't seem to work. It prints the 2 pages but in landscape even though i chose portrait in the printer tab.

anyone can help please

(stolen from the other thread)

Guys,

I have just printed one page of word onto one piece of a4 paper, but i was trying to print on each side so i could take a 328 page book and print just 164 pages. Once the printing was done i had to then put the pages into the intray so it could print the other pages onto the other side of the sheets. This proved useful as my printer started taking multiple pages and printing on the wrong pages, my printer isn't working right. Anyway so i canceled after it had done a few pages. Now i am left with 164 pages that have been printed alternatively, how can i print the other 164 pages?

I'm not sure if there is some reason you are avoiding the obvious route but why not just pop into your local print shop and get them to do it? It'll be a half hour job at most, the quality will be good and it shouldn't even cost that much.

well i have a printer so i want to use it, if i can't print then there's no point having a printer. I have to make this work.

I am actually planning on now just printing out a fresh 328 pages.

I noticed something, my books word pages are not numbered. Is it too late to add page numbering in, if not how can i add them?

thanks in advance

It will probbably cost you more in ink than it would at the printers :/

Why not just give your mate a copy on a usb stick?

he doesn't have a printer, and doesn't want to read it on a computer. So i need to print it. Oh and the ink and paper i got didn't cost me too much.
