Following on from my previous thread about not being able to make the most of my new cpu (stuck @ 3.6GHz), I managed to get an Asus P5Q Pro Turbo (mainly for RAID and not the extra 400MHz ). And got a CoolIT ECO from OcUK.
I really love the Turbo Key function on my mobo! Does anyone else (with an asus mobo) use it?
Any ways on with the test.
I installed the new mobo and set the fsb straight to 445Mhz, 2.0v for my ram and stock volts (1.2875v) for the cpu. LLC was on auto and speedstep enabled.
I used both IBT and prime, pretty impressed with the temps and volts. I got 3 stuck sensors, only core 0 workes properly. I had some problems with the eco at first but remounting sorted it out. The results:
IBT @ 4GHz, 1.2875 vcore:
Prime @ 4GHz, 1.2875 vcore:
I guess its true that IBT stresses a cpu way more than prime (12c higher in this case)
Next, retried my old setting of 3.6GHz and managed to get it stable using only 1.1875v, I'm VERY impressed with the temps:
IBT @ 3.6GHz, 1.1875 vcore:
Prime @ 3.6GHz, 1.1875 vcore UNREAL TEMPS!:
As you can see, I am very very very impressed with the results. I can go much higher but I'm limited by RAM. Also I have no need for 4GHz 24/7 so I still use 3.6GHz normally but I loaded the 4ghz settings into the Turbo Key to that when encoding/gaming i can easilly get the boost at the push of a button
