I Can't Access My Files :(

Hey everyone,
One of my Xp installations recently died, and my documents were stored on my external drive. My user account was admin and it had a password, so all of my documents on the hard drive are locked from any other operating systems. I need all of my music for a few DJ gigs coming up soon, and I can't get to them :(

Has anyone got any advice on how I can get the files back, or make them unprotected? [I know I could do the individual file thing where you change the owner of each file, but we're talking about thousands of files here.

Any help is appreciated, cheers, Chris.

Try using a Linux live CD and do a Disk Dump. If that shows that theres data there then use something like Stellar Phoenix to retrieve the files. Alternatively you could just use Linux instead of windows.

Don't need to do it individually :) Go to the properties for the folder and take ownership of the folder. Check 'replace owner on subcontainers and objects', and it should go through the folder and change all of the files.
