ok, i have a flatbed scanner - Canoscan N676U and it says its compatible with Mac OS X but i dont know what to do with the driver downloads.

they're downloaded as .bin files and i dont know where to stick them :p as they're being opened with VLC as default for some reason

can anyone give me advice on how to install this thing?

Cheers

Matt

You shoudnt need any drivers what so ever.

Check around n the system preferences to see if its in a folder there.

nothing, i guess the thing has packed in then! will try and plug it into my PC and see if its working still heh.

i thought it would be as simple as plug it in, but when it didnt work i went a lookin'

EDIT - works on my PC and it says its mac compatible.. but no such luck at all - though it is a bit archaic, its not even on the canon website anymore haha.

yeah, ive downloaded those but they come up as .bin and i have no idea what i'm meant to do with them!!

You can burn them, Its an image file "bin"

I don't know where you're getting .bins from. I followed that link and the driver download is a .dmg, and the scanner program is a zipped .dmg.

Anyway, open up Image Capture, should work without drivers.
