As the title say's I really can't sit around waiting for Conroe to arrive, so I think I'm gonna purchse to the following to have a little fun o/c and pass the time (then I will use it as a basis for a secoundry system when Conroe's out),

Intel Pentium 4 805 Dual Core "LGA775 Smithfield" 2.66GHz £85

Alphacool Cool Answer II 120 Watercooling Kit £61

Obiously i'll be wanting to overclock the 805, I'd like to run this cpu at 3.8 stable, do you think this will be archievable with my choosen cpu cooler, (I don't want nothing fancy)

I think the review on THG about the 805 reaching 4.1GHz stable (50%+ overclock) was a load of rubbish. 3.8GHz might be do-able but I wouldn't count on anything. What CPU have you got at them moment?

Save your pennies, buddy - you'll only regret it when Conroe comes out.

If you really are DESPERATE to upgrade, then fine (I personally think you're not upgrading but taking a step sideways) as it's your money and you have the final say. But I'm sure you'll want to spend your money as prudently as possible... so I'd suggest you wait just THAT much longer.

Besides, it's not as if you have a slow system at the moment; neither are there any seriously intensive games coming out in the next two months that need a much faster computer.

Dam you guy's for making me think twice :p , I think your right tho really, I'm just so board at the moment, I think I'll still order the water cooling kit tho, it's only £61, I've allways wanted to try one out and hopefully I'll be able to o/c my currunt p4 550 a bit higher, then I can allways use the w/c kit on the conroe when it comes out so it won't be a complete waste of money :)

I've got my 805 at 3.6 on good air, but trying for 3.8 results in too much CPU temp.

Water will take you further, as my board has plenty of room for voltage, and I've had the PC boot at 4.0Ghz..... *sigh* I want Water for system next ... just saving up the pennies.

dont buy a cheapo watercooling kit, you will only regret it.

Also, dont bother with the 805, if you realy want some oc fun try a 631, most hit about 5ghz+

£61 for a watercooling kit you'd be better off spending half that on a freezer7 pro.. it'd walk all over that kit.

Urgh.. I feel dirty, I don't do air so recommending it for someone is awful ;)

If you're going to do it properly then do it properly and have a custom wc kit.. you'll be talking over £150 though.
