I think clutchless shifting while filtering is actually far safer and faster than not as you can get away quicker with clutchless, plus you're not going to get rear ended sitting between two cars.

That is all.

Ok...

If I'm filtering I tend to use the clutch a fair bit, as I like to blip the throttle to let car drivers know I'm there.

:D I like to carry it out while wearing nothing but my helmet and a pair of old hole filled y fronts for protection.

Edit: and a POLITE high vis.

you might get rear ended between two cars by another biker whos pre occupied adjusting his hole filled y fronts while doing clutchless shifting though:(

lube helps in those situations:eek::p

when I filter I stop every 3 cars to do a burnout. Much safer because my rubber is kept at right temp in case I need to brake.

Try a rolling burnout, you can make more progress and the smell of burning tyre helps alert other driver to your presence.

I don't really see the need to shift gear without the clutch.
I know you can but why, if those split seconds were really that important I would have set off earlier in the first place.

Why rev match on down shifts?
Why lean off the seat?
Why tuck?
Why have a nice exhaust?
Why have more than 40hp?
Why accelerate hard?

...

Why not?

Couldn't have put it better myself. For me, it's what biking is all about - messing about, having fun, going fast, learning your bike, using different techniques and pretending you're a pro racer. All these people that never mod, never 'accidentally' wheelie, never lean off the side, never rev the hell out of it (and so on) are truly missing out :)

Not that I do any of the above...

I also like the burnout idea above, better to be seen, heard and smelt.
