Well after much deliberation and thought about my previous thread here I was almost ready to just take the warranty on the 911 and be done with it. Then something unusual happened, a car dealer actually wanted to do a deal without negotiating and any hassle . So, I ended up with a brand new car for $10k off the sticker price making it far too good a deal to pass up. Coupled with the best trade values I've ever been offered on the 911/135i made for a nice easy deal.

Rest assured HRE forged monoblocks will be going on it soon as will a nice exhaust but for the moment I'm thrilled and I genuinely feel I made the right decision to put myself in a nice situation for the next few years while I save up for my Turbo S!

Enjoy the pics and you've gotta love that carbon roof!

PS. Fox I'm sorry it's not Fox Red interior but it does have every other option ticked aside from the heated seats.

How do you rate the M3 vs your 911? I would guess the m3 would feel more refined, but the V8 must make it faster in a straight line? Also, whats the driving experience like between the 2?

Very nice car

It's faster than my 911 for sure, especially since it has the DCT transmission, it shifts very quickly indeed. In the sport mode it literally hammers the gears in giving it pretty relentless acceleration.

As for handling, don't forget I live in Florida, the most aggressive corner I take is an intersection :(. But no in all seriousness, I took it around the local lanes yesterday and it handles superbly. Combined with the beautiful sumptuous interior and all the toys and it makes for a lovely place to be on a daily basis.

It's no 911 and it never will be but the M3 impressed me so much on my test drive that it swung my decision almost instantly. I actually went in expecting to not like it then I drove one on Friday night and bought it 8 hours later :p

Well done, I'm sure you'll be happy with the M3, great car though not sure black shows it off to best effect, not least when you have such good weather over there, but if you're happy with it who gives a ****.

They feel a bit more insulated and removed when compared to the 997 but I'd expect a 997 S to show it a clean pair of heels in a straight line.

Actually the 997.1S is ever so slightly slower in a straight line, proved in person last night by myself and a friend. The .2 however does indeed take the M3.

Black wasn't my first choice of colour but it is fairly subtle. I guess I'm joining you in the "in between 911" phase of my life now.

Iceman, can I ask. Are you expat? If so, why Florida and what do you do there? Me and the GF are seriously considering a move!!!

Oh and nice wheels btw!

I married an American so very easy. I've always wanted to live in the US anyway, suits my lifestyle so much better.

I'm a commercial pilot and a businessman but I'm in the middle of a career change as I'm now becoming a doctor.

I used to live in CA but I prefer the people here in FL, it's a much nicer place overall :).

Don't worry guys, front reflectors will be changed for smoked ones soon and I have a few carbon bits coming including bonnet vents, front grilles and the rear spoiler. As soon as I sell my HRE's from my Porsche I'll be getting a new set on here as well.

As for the seatbelt thing, no I wasn't aware of any American cars doing it this way until now. I just thought it was kinda nifty :)

Lovely lovely car. I read your opening post but it's still the wrong colour combo! For an M3 in Florida you need a white or blue coloured body, with red leather seats.

The astronomically large discount I got on this car quickly swayed any thoughts I had of getting a blue one with red interior. I'm partial to black and carbon interiors anyway so it wasn't exactly like my arm was being twisted :p

Do Want.

Whats the full options list ?

Options as follows

Novillo leather black
Carbon leather trim
Technology package
Premium package
Nav
HD and Sirius radio
Keyless entry and start
3 way adjustable dampers (electronic)
Parking sensors
Auto dimming mirrors
DCT 7 speed dual clutch transmission

There's a few more things but I'd need to get the spec sheet out. That's mostly it though :)

How much the exhaust?

Not 100% sure yet but they're telling me it'll be about half the price of the Kreissigg or Akro system so somewhere around $2500-3000 I'd expect. Not cheap so I may have to choose between HRE's OR the exhaust rather than both. The exhaust is significantly cheaper than a set of HRE's however, about $3k less.

Im telling you wait till you are bored, especially as you intend keeping it.

Im having mine remapped and a set of speed alloys next month because im bored now and nothing else floats my boat, il have a 2010 model next then a Mulsanne but till then its only upgrades that renew the interest.

I drove the new model recently too, they've made some serious improvements. They took all the best bits of the speed/supersport and put them into the standard GT.

LED lights and a Transformers steering wheel, i had one for a day the other day, im going to go for super speed front seats but with the back seat remaining and that will be that :)

All black black paint, black leather , black piano wood and black wheels.

You didn't notice how much better the gearbox was? It's night and day IMO.

Nope didnt notice any difference at all to be honest, but then im not trying to break any land speed records, i cant feel this one shift unless i boot it, and i couldnt feel the new one shift either.

What did you notice?

It's got the same mapping and hardware from the Supersport which makes it significantly faster at shifting and a lot smoother under power too. I felt quite a difference but then I was really giving it some when I had it. We have a 5 mile long bridge over here that's empty in the mornings, dead straight and no where for police to sit.....

I have a video of a friend of mine in his tuned Supersport coming past me on a private 5 mile long straight road at 200+, seriously quick machines.

In other news, I may have just found a leak in my bank account, shaped like 4 new HRE's. I've been offered 75% of what I paid for my old wheels in trade on these new ones. They're lighter than my P40's, they're called P40S's and they're done in their new "brushed titanium" finish which is brushed aluminium with a gunmetal colour!

Those ones in the pictures MrLOL linked to are the original P40's like what I had on my 911.

The new S's have carved spokes and a more aggressive center profile, not to mention they're 2lbs lighter per wheel!

I agree though, those ones are too large and its too low. I'll be sticking with 19"s.

Those exhausts sound gorgeous, I cannot stand the noise of the DCT gearchange though. Just doesn't sound right at all imo.

What noise?

I'm suprised, I thought your C2S was tuned.

Nice car, enjoy.

It was but I think it's simply down to the torque. I had a chance to run it against an R8 and a pair of 911's yesterday, one .1 tuned exactly like mine was and a .2 C4S. The only one to keep pace was the C4S, slowest was the R8 and the .1 C2S was just a little behind. I suspect a .2 C2S would show me a clean pair of heels though.

sex

much better :)

I love the Akra system but $4500!? + install of course. That's a set of HRE monoblocks almost.
