It definitely was cool once. Now, with the overwhelming medical evidence against it, plus the fact that most people don't like to stink to high heaven, it's not.

It was sexy as well. But, you know, impotence and lung disease aren't sexy.

It's also to do with the class of people you see smoking. I don't see many middle class people smoking anymore, just chavs. So there's another bad association there.

Smoking being cool was one of the big reasons it caught on as much as it did. But now, with the gruesome health warnings they have, plus the fact that the packets won't have designs on them anymore so they have no branding as such makes it less cool and attractive.

But now, whenever I see anyone over the age of 21 smoking, I just think they look stupid.

...If you are an easily influenced 15 year old.
I like a cigar on occasion - Perhaps two per year!

Nobody under the age of at least 50 should be smoking. They fully knew how dangerous it was!

When I pay for fuel I often look at the fag counter - circa £7.70 for a pack of 20 Mayfair. Some people would spend over £2500 per year on that!

When at Uni my friend and I had a pact that we'd smoke 2 cigarette's a day each. The pact worked well, until we hit the clubs lol

I wish I could give up; I've tried the Alan Carr books, nictotene patches, and electronic cigarettes and I just don't have the will power. :(

If I give up the money saved could easily get me a GTX670 after one month, so maybe I should be looking at it that way as I ignore all the health scares etc.
 
I think we should split different types of smoking here. Cigarettes are rough, but cigars are cool.

Just look at these guys - make amazing recovery of space mission, light cigars.

Because he needs the mental edge and focus from the cigarette. Imagine how stressed he would be without it. I'd hazard a guess that cigarettes played a key role in bringing the Apollo 13 crew home to Earth alive.
