I dont want to play that game, it will rule my life!

Who else avoids certain games as you know you will waste hours on them and achieve nothing?:(

As you said. GW2. I'm still not totally convinced about it with the changes from GW but most of all, after getting a job I'm not sure I wanna buy an MMO I could sink 100s of hours into without even thinking about it like I did GW.

I don't really avoid games, I just find them less addictive than they used to be, and I have got a bit better as balancing them with other areas of my life. They do still have occassional timesinkness but what the heck, it's fun anyway.

Some control helps, although have been into some games heavily in the past, I had the time. Now I don't so much.

Eve Online is a game I sometimes wonder whether I should have avoided. :P
The X3 games before that, I know full well when the new X game comes out I'll lock myself in front of my computer for a month without leaving the house! lol

I've managed to avoid minecraft since the alpha, likewise avoided Dayz. I'm proud I've avoided WoW however, I'm morally against it :D

I played star wars the old republic for 1 month from release date, got up to level 50 then I decided it was time to stop and forcefully uninstalled it from my computer lol.

I don't want to play Dayz, I tired it and it sucked me in so I had to stop.
I don't want to play Minecraft, I spent my first day digging a ditch which took me eight hours. My mate came in and said what are you doing? I told him I was digging some hole, he comes back eight hours later and I'm in the same spot with a bigger hole, he's likes wtf??

Guild was 2?? No way will I get that it will take over me and ruin me.

You have hit the nail on the head dude

For me it is exactly the same , Dayz gave it 2 evenings then gave up
Minecraft I avoided like the plague due to my addictive nature

I am still avoiding the WoW itch... I really want to start again on it :( But just can't face the addiction haha. I only ever played PVP which was ruined in burning crusades in my opinion so not much end game for me either...

Although, I am still REALLY tempted by it, absolutely loved it :(

WoW sucked me in, took breaks of 6 months of a time or so but always went back hit the end content and left, Played guild wars original now that was fun now i want to get to guild wars 2 but im gonna get sucked in i know it

Runescape took away a large amount of my teenage years.

As I'm at uni at the moment, I restrict game purchases that I feel might be addictive to pre holidays.

Works quite well. Normally I manage to get off of it after about 1-2 months of playing non-stop. Diablo was Summer. Skyrim was Christmas (I think).

It just works xD

Minecraft I am intrigued by having seen a couple of youtube vids and a lot of hype and attention on forums. My kid has also talked about his friend having it. I'm thinking....no...no way. I personally could never get into things like Final Fantasy, WOW, as they take up too much time once grabbed by it, so I typically avoid these as realistically I would not be able to devote the time to them. With Minecraft I can see that being addictive so I am also avoiding it. I have little time in my life for pleasure so tend to steam through FPS games on the PC when I get a chance, and occasionally play Wii/PS3 with my kids (mainly FIFA on PS3).

The only game that has consumed me and I have put the most time into for a continued period of about 4 years of my life on and off, was CS:S (Counter Strike:Source). This game I think I can admit to being semi addicted to. I wouldn't say it was a full on addiction, more...once I did start playing it was hard to stop. Hang on...that defines an addiction lol.

I hadn't touched CS:S since the other day on two years. This time it was different though. I am thankfully so out of practice that it was not enjoyable, so maybe I won't get back into it. Plus, it kind of looked and felt dated to me. Like nothing had changed. Same old maps etc. Might give CS:GO a try.

World of warcraft is the one one I'm avoiding, I know 4 seperate people who just completely dropped out of life and play it all day long, they're properly addicted to it.

Going to get into GW2 when I pack in smoking, replace one addiction with another.

I probably should avoid Dota 2 but I have played around 3 hours a night recently. Amazing game imo. So balanced.

Haha this is 100% damn true for me aswell.

I was close to buying the Arma 2 pack so I can play Dayz but kept stopping myself cause I know for a fact I would get addicted to it..but I'm so tempted!!!

I avoid all MMOs, I just know I'd spend too much time on them though.

Eve seriously tempts me however, everything I hear about it just makes me want to play it more.
