I was out trying to get some shots of the moon with my 70-200L but I don't have the tripod collar for it and had the camera attached to the tripod. No matter what I did, once the shutter went it made enough movement to blur the shot :(
Anyhoo, I stuck on the 17-40L and tried my hand at capturing the light trails from the Heathrow departures. This is one I got...

I had it on manual focus and the tree was slightly blurry so I sharpened it up in Photoshop and changed the white balance to take the orange out of the glow.

Any comments?

I really like that mate. However it doesn't really look like a plane more like superman's capsule coming from Krypton :)

I love plane trails, and that is a really good one :) The tree is perfect too, good work. Love the colours :)
Any chance of a link to a larger version? Puhleeeese? :D

I'm finding the moon moves too much in 20 seconds for it to be in focus :(

I need a better camera with better ISO levels :(

That's awesome, really like that :)

Thanks for the new wallpaper - looks quite good I think

Thats weird! I was doing the exact same thing when i was bored of taking pictures of the moon!

Faro Airport in Portugal is just down the road from my parents house, they all came out a bit ruff though.

Nice shot!

Its surprising how fast the moon really moves, ive seen it at high magnification and if your really zoomed in youve gotta keep the telescope on the move all the time..

Here's another. Again I just played with the white balance and in this one I brought out the stars a bit more. I had no intentions of catching these shots when I went out so hopefully if we get another clear night I'll be able to go out and plan to get some.
