I purchased on 06.11.2019 from Overclockers, promised to have 2 years warranty.

I received the hard drive today, serial number checked against WD warranty page that revealled it was less than 1 year's warranty (27.10.2020) - not 2 years as advertised.

What do I do?

Also I've had similar a while back with their black drives, emailed WD with proof of purchase and they increased the online warranty to the correct amount. I think it's down to the serial number as the drives could be stuck in a warehouse for ages thus the warranty runs down, I guess it's for people without proof of purchase that need to claim, but if you've got proof, then all is golden :)

Space Monkey,

Do you have the "wording" you used on the email with WD to get the online warranty to the correct amount.
I no longer have the email, may have been on one of their online forms so it won't be on my PC, though it was basically, I've just bought a brand new HDD from Overclockers UK which should come with a full 2yr warranty but the online checker is wrong, please can you update the correct warranty date, and attach proof of purchase :)

I had similar issue. Wd does have a warranty update page online and i sent them the invoice for the drive and serial number and after a few days it was updated with full length warranty. Infact iv done that on a number of drives in the past.

I suspect this is because the number of people who buy 1tb proper old school drives has diminished severely. Especially as you can pick up 8TB for £130 these days.

Was there anything in the box warranty wise i.e. a little booklet? I've bought a few drives, etc. where you have to register to get the fully (or an extended) warranty (not sure the legality if it is required just to get the standard warranty) and otherwise it is stated as only 1 year.

I had the same issue on my WD Blue 2tb had about 18 months left according to serial number. So contacted oc who said they will honour the remaining time.
