I finally Bought something, (and it's never been written off)

Cigarette lighter socket not working and lighter missing,

Fix and replace

Blank service history book, (unstamped) (told it had full service history)

Now have service history

No manual

Not bothered

Bonnet was full of stone chips

Issue with all civics

Front near side wing clearly been resprayed as masking tape still on the headlight with red paint.

Remove tape..... Done

Near side door resprayed with dripping paint from the ridges

Biggest issue but not un repairable

Near side door scuff plate loose and clip broken

Fix and replace

Near side door switch for interior light missing and wire sticking out of a hole in the door

Replace.

Fuel filler cap raised at the front

Not sure how to fix this

Plastic clip on near side rear light cluster broken off

Replace

Driver car mat clip missing so mat slides under clutch pedal

Replace

Missing USB connector lead.

Got one

Nothing expensive there

this car has clearly had an hard life and its only 2 years old and obviously been in a couple of accidents

how can it have no history then a fsh? has someone just made up book to keep you sweet? I buy 5-10 year old cars with 100,000 miles in better condition then what you've just described

Right,
Point by point for you

Cigarette lighter socket....fine

Blank service history book, (unstamped) (told it had full service history)

Now have service history - I find this extremely concerning, have you backed this "history" off with Honda!?

No manual - fine

Bonnet was full of stone chips

Issue with all civics - Yes, but not at 25k - or certainly not bad at 25k. Mine was bad, at 90k and it had never had paint - if it's noticeably chipped at 25k that would immediately set alarm bells ringing.

Front near side wing clearly been resprayed as masking tape still on the headlight with red paint. - This is absolutely shocking.

Remove tape..... Done. Yes, you have been

Near side door resprayed with dripping paint from the ridges - Shocking

Near side door scuff plate loose and clip broken - Very poor on its own, coupled with everything else this just adds up to more worry

Fix and replace

Near side door switch for interior light missing and wire sticking out of a hole in the door - WHAT KIND OF DEALERSHIP DOESN'T CATCH THINGS LIKE THIS!?

Fuel filler cap raised at the front - As in the flap!? this thing has been dragged along a wall

Not sure how to fix this

Plastic clip on near side rear light cluster broken off - Come on this is a joke, this car has absolutely been hit

Everything else is a bit meh but come on, this car is two years old. My civic had 1 owner and was 5 years old when I bought it - it was absolutely immaculate, this thing has been smacked, repaired poorly and generally mistreated, I would also be extremely concerned about its mileage right now - drop it!!

Don't be naive about this, you will lumber yourself with an absolute dog that will cost you lots of cash because nobody else will want it for anything other than bargain basement money. It's like the terrible focus all over again, find someone who knows what they are looking for and get a decent car, please!

Well I don't think I will rib you any more than the others have so...If they do by some miracle take it back off your hands and don't bend you over even more then I know one that is for sale. Black 58 plate, 36k miles, full Honda history (or does it?! :p) for a shade under 9k. I see you're up north though so I doubt it's of any use.

Try and reject the car as it has not been sold as described because it was advertised as having service history when in fact it doesn't, it's your only chance of rejecting this lemon. They've lied to you and given you a substandard car, are you really going to let yourself get mugged off like that?

Don't fool yourself, you've paid 11k for a car with masking tape hanging off it. It's unacceptable by any standard.

Dealer doesn't look that great either. Good luck.

Reject it go buy one from a honda dealer and move on, the list of things wrong with that car make it a total disaster you should loose it before it costs you anymore money.

I had the same with my first car (a polo twist 2004 first time i ever bought a car so was a bit of a gamble that cost me £1500 in repairs over 1 year) I have since replaced it in the last week with a honda civic 1.4 SI 2010 with 16k mileage from a local honda dealer and so far it is fantastic car, no issues no problems apart from a few very minor scratches on the paintwork which i was aware of when i bought it that the dealer corrected with no issues, they even did a free diamondbrite protection coating on all the paintwork and fabric for me.

I've been there. I bought an X reg Escort 5 years ago, in the dark, way cheaper than it should have been, turned out to be a CAT D and a little bit 'bent'. After the initial denial, I grilled the seller for being a lying **** and got £100 (I think) back in cash, sold the car with an honest description a week later at a loss.

I lost about £150 through the whole thing but it taught me a valuable lesson about buying cars. Don't let anyone take you for a ride, open your eyes, bring a mate and don't let someone fob you off. Maybe after the CAT C lark and now this, you won't be making the same mistakes again.

Buy mine, minor chip on front bumper, easily repaired...

(Sorry op...I jest, your misfortune is a lesser mistake than mine when all is said and done :()

Hi, I’m resurrecting this thread after almost 12 years!

I’ve not been on here since 2014 and just stumbled back into my account!

Good job I had thick skin back then!

A lot of life had happened since then.

That “dog” of a type R ran until 2019 without any issues other than tyres and brakes!

Then bought a 2017 Focus RS and loved every mile, having slightly modified it and enjoyed all the drama that goes with it.

Changed jobs and it became a chore driving it to work and back every day, costing £10 a day in Super just to sit in traffic, couldn’t afford to put it in storage so I now have gone to the dark side and have a 2021 Tesla M3 Performance.

It’s not the RS, no drama and it corners like a slug in comparison however costs me less than £1 a day (not counting for its devaluation compared with the RS) and the acceleration is addictive.

Hope you have all had a good 12 years, still kept your humour and continue to give good solid advice!
