bascially if i startto download too fast using something like bittorrent and use firefox at sametime i loose the interent and i have no clue why.

I can get really goodspeeds sometime without loosing the net, e.g. limewire i get 300kbs and fine but when using utorrent or any other program to download n i loose net trying to do 2 thgins at once at a high speed e.g. downloading 2 files at once going around 130kbs in total.

anyone know why this might be? my net is much faster then 130kbs so deifnetly not a problem with that.

First, establish if your internet connection itself is running as fast as you would expect. Use the speedtester at http://speedtester.bt.com.

If all OK, and it only seems to die when using bittorrent, then it's likely your routers NAT table is becomming overloaded - best solution to this would be to get a better router.

Which ISP are you with ?

When I was with TalkTalk last year I had plenty of disconnect problems when trying to do too many things at once like you are. Now on the same hardware with my new ISP all works fine. Sometimes cheap and nasty ISP's like TalkTalk don't provide enough capacity on their network for downloading and the number of connections.

Arfe you using a Marvell Yukon Gigabit network port on your motherboard by any chance?

hmmn - interesting, i use a marvell port on my nf4 board and sometimes get the problem the op describes...though not too often. Is it a known issue then?

Yes, if you download the updated drivers from their website then you shouldn't get the problem. It happened to me a lot, i reinstalled the new drivers (from March 2007 or something) and everything was fine, no connection interuptions or anything.

tried using the speed test in the link provided but i got an error so used this one, seems be be a bit better then it used to be but is the resuls any good:

My interent connection is with virgin media and i got a 10mb connection afaik. What results should i be seeing?

Im on a network that apparently sorts out the connection stopping someone from taking it all and leaving everyone else with none, though im told it wouldn't cut me off, just soptm e going ott.

Everyone else on my interent is fine, they never get cut of downloading at fast speeds, just me. But sometimes if i get cut off it can stop them having the net and the onyl way to get it back quickly is to unplug the router with the power cable and plug it back in.

Im using a network card i think called Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Ad. I put this in as i hoped the problem was with the onboard network card but it didn't make a difference.

Its very annoying as surely if my net can't handle it it shouldn't let me go that fast?

thanks, any link for that? I'm having a bit of trouble :(

What you are describing could be an issue with the way you have set up your bittorrent client.

If you have the upload speed set too high it can cause exactly the symptoms you are experiencing - try lowering it a tad and see if that fixes it.

I have a Lanparty Ultra-D board with dual network ports, although I have only ever use the standard port (top port) can someone point me towards the drivers please as I'm having internet drop outs even though the modem Sync/ready are green and solid and the router is showing connection to the modem so it may be at the PC end

EDIT: Is this the right one? Windows XP, Server 2003 x86, Windows 2000 3/15/07 5.61.4.3
