Just to let you guys know, I got accepted into Bizspark and now have a free 3 year subscription with MSDN. I have access to everything for free now :D

Well it's just a General Discussion right... So I'm starting one about Bizspark, maybe someone else wanted to know how to gain free access..

Maybe you can start by telling us just what the hell a "Bizspark" is and how our lives could benefit from it?

lol poor guy just wanted to show his excitement on his success and we shoot him down.

I'm glad you got it mate, google tells me it's http://www.microsoft.com/BizSpark/ which gets you free microsoft products, if the 2 guys that replied bothered to google they wouldn't be so negative but then who wants to research :p

Oh right OK...

Bizspark is a new idea made by Microsoft, it basically is a way for new starting companies using Microsoft tech in their solutions to have full access to Microsoft Resources.

As you may already know MSDN contains access to Windows XP, Vista & 7 which you can download for free and they also provide you licenses for them as well. (MS Office and all other Microsoft Products are there as well)

So You basically just apply yourself as a new business on the Bizspark website and then wait for MS or one of the other partners to accept you, then you get 3 years subscription to MSDN.

Thanks for that lol, yeah I've got access to everything now, even Windows 3.1 which I see no point in installing apart from looking back in the old days.

Oh and dreamspark helps a bit with dev tools.

I'm at Westminster. Don't get anything at all! Apart from a free ms notepad when Paul barone from ms comes for a talk

Oh yeh, good point - you usually have to be enrolled on a computer, maths or engineering based course.

I am, oh well the uni might give it I'm not totally sure, all I know about is Dreamspark for students to get VS, Windows Server and other developing tools.

Do you think they would give me MSDN access if I said I was starting a business as a door to door mustard salesman? :p Or does it have to involve computers somehow?

haha I don't really think so.

They declined me the first time because my email address wasn't the same as my domain.

So I went ahead and bought a .net domain. Created a nice looking website and put an email address with the domain. Then just made the website more focused onto my shutdown timer and they accepted me.

It has to be towards developing software for windows systems.

Well, I have written a plug-in or two in the past, and making a website isn't exactly hard, so I may give this a go. :) I'll just have to remember to keep my mustard idea under wraps! :p
