I hate couriers

I once had to wait 3 days after the due date for a CL dillivery. phoned up each day, was told would be dillivered that day, but nothing.

got out of bed the other day at 10am ish (on a late shift), brush teeth, dress etc, head downstairs for brekkie and to hunt for the card the courier will doubtless have left while i was asleep ( i work near the depot, so i dont mind going to pick it up)

get almost to the bottom of the stairs, and "knock knock"

no, it wasnt a bad joke about to be comitted, it was the courier with my luvverly 2GB G.Skill kit....

...result- had it installed and tweaked before leaving for work :)

My latest order was a Zalman Northbridge Cooler from OcUK. The order was placed at around 1415 hrs on the 28th and I chose RMSD instead of CityLink because the latter have also carded me even though I was in.

My parcel arrived on the morning of the 30th. With the postage costing more than the item, it had better arrive promptly! :p

ditto

i prefer special deliv though as all my delivs are here before 7am, always delivered by the same polite guy
same here... prefer royal mail. if i miss them simply wait till 1ish (or 12ish on sat) and stroll up to my local depo :D
& don't you just hate the nosy couriers? wondering what the heck you do home everyday (work night-shifts), getting 'packages' delivered?!?!

my NAS drive turned up this morning via citylink 0830, :D

still need to finish rearranging cables to fit it in, but cheers OCUK :D

just get things delivered to work, simple.

tried that- the company i work for uyse initial city link like everyone else it seems, and because they see the company name on the address, they deliver it to our hardware dept...which is half an industrial estate away! the damn citilink depot is closer!

*grumble*

Have you tried putting your department in brackets after the company name when you fill in the address?

dont' talk to me about couriers. **itty stink as I now call them, tried to make out I had signed for a parcel I never received. They eventually came up with the evidence of a signature. The only problem for them was that day I was in hospital having an operation

Oh dear.

Then Parcelfarce dropped a laser printer on my garden path and tried to deliver it as if nothing had happened. He got quite shirty when I refused to take delivery too.

SMS are pretty much the worst couriers imo, we have to deal with them at work. 9/10 times they don't actually leave a card, often they don't even knock when the person is in. they also have really lame excuses for not delivering, and i've heard a couple of times about people chasing the van/bike down the road and them not even stopping.

city link don't seem bad, but i've heard bad stories, still wouldn't order from OCUK again though.

And all this begs the question:

Why do companies bother using couriers? Why not just use royal mail? Lets face it, 90% of people are not going to be in during the day and most courier depots are miles from civilisation as opposed to post offices which are in all towns. Its easy to walk or drive to a post office to collect your parcel, rather than taking a whole week off just to get a parcel from a courier or deal with all said problems. And then having to trek miles into the wilderness to get your parcel from their only depot in the country! Okay sligh exageration but y'all know what i mean! ;)

No problems with Couriers that Ive had in the past. City Link have been very good for me. Collecting and delivering anytime in the morning till around 1pm, which aint that bad. The drivers and very friendly and look to take care of your parcel's. OcUK are better off with them instead of Amtrak.

Cheap contracts with couriers instead of RM? Get a better deal with a courier to collect thier parcels than RM? Thats the only reason I can think of atm...

Royal Mail is generally very reliable, but you get what you pay for! For example, a bag between 1kg-5kg costs £7ish with City Link - Anything over 2kg I think it is is £19 with Royal Mail Special Delivery. Sure you can get Recorded Delivery et al but thats only guaranteed up to £26 (I think it is) and then it gets more expensive as the size/weight increases. If OCUK were to change couriers again, or not use them at all then prices would increase dramatically. It's catch 22 and very frustrating believe me.

Last time I ordered something with a citylink delivery, I found a card saying they treid to deliver at 11am, trouble was it was just past 9.30 that morning.

Called citylink and they said they can't contact the driver whilst he is driving, they can reschedule the delivery in 3 days (when i was working) so that was no option.

Shop I ordered from was 40 miles from my house, Citylink Depot that the parcel was held at was 35 miles away. But wasn't available until the next day. Useless, atleast with RM the depot is only about 5 miles away.

They always come when im going for a pooh :( so I cant even hurry it up and answer the door... dont want an 'accident'!

we use them too, they're equally bad. daily i have multiple instances of returned items, lost items no card left by them and they've been sitting on it for a month.... and these are all special or recorded deliveries too, i hate to think what regular mail is actually like.
