I hate spec me threads but......

75 would sounds too big to me, I managed 3 months away with a 35l bag (I had to really think about what I wanted to take but I could take it everywhere as hand luggage which was great). I have a fantastic osprey bag which I used when I went round the world, it has wheels and a decent back system. You wouldn't want to walk up a mountain with it true but it's fine for 4-5 miles to the nearest station or whatever, I'd recommend it to anyone but it wasn't cheap as I remember.

I'm planning on doing a trip across the US for a month during the summer, so I'm looking for the ideal bag, however its going to be warm!

I have heard talk of some bags which allow air to move around on your bag to avoid sweat.

Anyone got any recommendations on this and what you think would be a suitable size in litres for the month?(It will mainly be hotels that I am staying in so I'll really only need clothes / shoes to carry).

I've settled on Alpine lowe travel trekker. I forget his name but someone who posted on this thread added me to msn and gave me lots of good advice.

Best think to do is try a few on on fully loaded and walk around and see if its ok for you

I bought a wire linked pack security device when I travelled and although a pricey purchase has given me piece of mind. The brand was Pacsafe and it completely encloses your pac andallows you to securely attach it to anny suitable fixing. I didn't really fancy being abroad with the chance someone could rifle through my stuff.
