My Natwest bank card gave up on me the other day in Asda and broke in two. So, I rang up Natwest who sent me another to my home address (I'm at uni and they won't change my address to up here.) The other option was to wait 3 weeks and pick it up from the Lancaster branch. I had to ask my parents to send it up to me when it arrived which they did on Tuesday of this week. But by Friday there was no sign of it. Went on my online banking and there was a message saying someone had tried to activate my new one. Seemed like someone had taken the card when Mum had sent it up to me and tried to use it even though it was first class recorded.

But testament to Natwest, rang them up explained the situation, and they cancelled the card and are sending another to my home address. Hope I have better luck this time! :)

u can change your address with the bank if you go into the branch with some ID e.g. passport..

I've tried, I am only tied to this uni room for a year, and even then I go home for a month at Christmas and Easter and three months in the Summer.

next time you want to post something you should go deliver it yourself by hand

thatl teach em

when theyre doing what they do for the price they do it you have to expect a few problems every now and again

Did your folks just write over the address on the envelope or did they stick it in another, unmarked envelope? Best do the latter in future...

TBH :D

Wrote a nice long letter to my gf whos moved to a far away uni. Had a bad feeling about it not getting there.. 4 weeks later it still hasnt!

So frustrating when you pay for a service and you cant easily replace the item!

Second one i sent recorded -.-

Though I don't understand why it was going to take 3 weeks to get it to the bank though? I had issues with my Natwest cards not turning up. So I went to the bank by my college (not my normal one) and had it delivered there.. it had turned up within a few days and they even phoned me to say i could fetch it!

Yes because they are paid absoltue peanuts to do what they are doing which is, in essence, carrying a bag of letters around and pushing them through the door. Basically a glorified Paper Boy/Girl.

I can't see how anyone can defend them (except someone who is possible a Postie). The documentary where they were, basically, just stamping on mail, half opened mail left lieing around and generally didn't care what was happening to the mail made me loose any sympathy I had for them - at the end of the day you are paying for a service and they are not delivering.

I feel sorry for the OP - hope you claim the compensation back on the registered delivery thing.

I just started as a postie. And i dont really see people stomping on mail and leaving it lying around in my office.

but one thing i can say is i underestimated how hard it is! :(

A postie only spends about 3-4hrs on the street walking and posting, ontop of that he/she spends a few hours actually having to sort through hundreds/thousands of letters.

Im in freakin agony today. Ive been walking since 10am. only got finished bout an hour ago :(

I'm going to be in the main sorting office over christmas, going to be quite boring I imagine.

I did when I worked in my local sorting office for a few months when I was a teenager. Although admittedly that was 10 years ago. Things may have changed, but I doubt it.

Note: DO NOT write 'DO NOT BEND' on a package/envelope/whatever, as it WILL be bent to test the validity of your instruction.

My brother has had nothing but problems with Royal Mail.

He even sent a Pool Cue Case, worth £650 from the Main office In Colwyn Bay up to the main Office in Scotland ( Didnt even need to go through the postmen at all, just office to office and they still lost it.

Whats even worse is that my bother had to prove that it was worth £650 - and apart from the fact that the guy had bought it from my brother for that price, therefore proving it was indeed worth it, my brother ( who made the case by the way ) then had to prove that all the bits to make up the case was worth £650 ( Are these for real ) and he never did get his full ammount ( Even though he was insured up to £1000 ). They even asked him to provide full information on each and every little bit of leather, Wood, Brass etc, including full receipts etc, and even his VAT Registered number etc... Information that they have no rights to ask for...

After 4 deliveries went missing in the space of a month, I told him that he would be better off with a proper courier that picked them up from his home.

He is now with UPS and NONE of his cases have been dammaged so far.

He is still taking action against royal mail, who are still trying to not pay him over the most ridiculous reasons for various claims.

Royal Mail need o be closed down, its the most useless service known.

Yeah it’s boring and easy work tbh, nothing to it! :p

Well with 70+ Million letters getting sent through the system daily it isn’t going to be perfect, let’s face it is anything? They have a very small % of mail that does go missing so it’s a very good service for what you pay for.

Told you it won’t be a walk in the park, it’s very very hard work not many people realise what we do and over the next few months its going to get worse and heavier over Christmas but a few months down the line it should get easier, so don’t quit just yet :D

Im not saying this because ive just started working for them, but I think you are wrong on this comment.

Royal mail deliver mail to something like 28Million destinations/houses.

There is bound to be things that mess up. And there is also gonna be****heads who work for them and dont have any respect for anything. Considering they employ so many thousands, you cant guarantee you aint gonna get scumbags in amongst em.

Being able to post a letter and have it arrive at the other end of the country the following morning isnt a "useless service"

Yes people who say comments like that don’t know what and how RM works, they don’t know how the system works and just how much involvement there is to deliver a letter it’s unreal, I don’t think he understands other company’s give us there mail to deliver for the ‘final mile’ with out RM how would you get your post?
