My mattress is terrible and I have had enough. It is too soft and you can feel the springs a bit. I need an new one today. However I am not sure what type is best. The types I have seen are open coil, pocket sprung, memory foam etc.

Can anybody recommend me a good type of mattress to buy. I want a really firm mattress. As I am unemployed at the moment I am not looking for something very expensive.

I don't know much about mattresses but I would assume your best bet is to go in store and lay on different ones to find what works for you, then order from them or elsewhere if its cheaper online or such.

go to bed store
try some out
note what you like
go online and find cheaper than bed store.

Pocket sprung, reporting in!

But yeah go down somewhere like Dreams and try some out, avoid the locust like sales people and get on t'internets!

ours was £1700 and pocket sprung it was the firmest rated one dreams had for sale I think...

its very confirtable..

I think if I were to purchase an item that expensive again I would go in with 30% less cash as they must be a 100% markup on these type of items... wish I had tried it...

You'll find all the major chain stores have the beds/mattresses renamed by the manufacturers so you can't directly compare them with each other or find the same model names on the web.
Also I just bought a bed from an independent, family run group (Bradbeers, 2 department stores, 2 furniture stores) and for the bed I wanted they were £100 cheaper than I could get it online.

No, but you can remember what the mattress it made up with and find something that matches.

Just look for a popular fly-tipping site and you can pick one up for free.

But srsly like everyone else says let the Dream douches just clue you up with all the sales schpeel then go and buy online.

I'd recommend mattressman.co.uk also as i've just had a new bed and Reylon mattress from them. Not sure if all the discount prices are genuine reductions but they are worth a try and delivered on the promised date.
