Defiantly off the mark on this one, a misanthrope is someone who hates humanity, usually as an ideological or philosophical position. It's not really anything to do with being a general hater.

Troll is a bit over used I agree, although there are 2 types of internet trolls.

The old fashioned troll would go on forums, and not pick on anyone in particular, but would post controversial topics / posts, derail a thread or necro-post (just for 'teh lulz'). This is mainly to **** everyone off and see what reaction they get from the readers and the admins. The attack is not taken personally.

Then you have the newer / "Web 2.0" type of troll that makes personal attacks on an individual. It's usually on sites that have a comments section like deviantART or YouTube rather than a forum.

Not sure what they are called but I feel there's more and more lately, good banter and taking the **** is expected when it's light hearted but there's morons on here (not in this thread , I mean a small percentage on forums) who will just be negative about everything with no humor, obviously lacking any sort of life
