why quad core?
why not save the money and go for dual core as its a gaming rig, and spend the extra money on better graphics.

Well first of all Dual core is obsolete, so any system based on that isnt going to cut it as long...

Think about it logically, go I7 now for you base and then upgrade your graphics etc as you go on, that way you get a lot more life out of your system in my opinion besides at the moment he has a naff monitor, a 4870 will do him in spades!

Well go quad (p11 940) and spend the difference on a 4870x2 gpu card.. they are a bargain at the mo - as well as being the 2nd best gpu you can buy right now.

Why do that when the monitor is crappy, he wont really see the benefit...
