I have a lazy trollish controller that works 100% 50% of the time

So I'm having trouble with my controller, when it works, it works but it doesn't seem to want to power on when I want it to power on.

There's nothing wrong with the cable or the USB ports I've tested them to make sure they're providing enough voltage.

There's no short on the controller as I've taken it apart and it's definitely getting power coming in from the port, all components still in place and solder looks fine. Vibration motors working fine and +/- aren't touching to cause a short there, resistors are all working fine

So I have no clue why it's seemingly trolling me by turning on when I shut down steam, or when I'm taking it apart or sometimes when I switch USB port, if it was an issue components surely it wouldn't work at all than 100% of the time when it decides it wants to work ?

Could the IC on it be broken ? It could be the caps but they aren't inflated and they're reading correct farads so I doubt it, maybe a fault on the PCB itself but that fault should be all the time and not intermittent

It's really annoying

Power saving in the usb port or something?

Nope

If leave the controller plugged in it stays on until I unplug it, if I plug it straight back in then it starts being pissy again and randomly decides when it wants to turn on

I mean I can leave it plugged in 24/7 to keep it working 100% of the time but I'd rather not

Odd, have you tried uninstalling in device manager and reinstalling using latest drivers? And motherboard drivers?

I've done an install, delete, reinstall of drivers

Unless you mean the USB drivers ? I use quite a lot of USB peripherals and they all work flawless apart from this controller which also works fine when it decides it wants to power on, the only thing I think it could be is related to the motors for vibration and the capacitors but the caps are fine and not bloated so I'm at a loss for what the hell is wrong with it.

It's been plugged in for 24 hours now and still working but I know as soon as I unplug it it's going to not work when I plug it in again
