Nope it's a stone or Pit

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_fruits

More specifically, "stone fruit" refers to members of the genus Prunus, which includes plums, cherries, mangos, peaches, apricots and almonds. It is traditionally placed within the rose family Rosaceae as a subfamily, the Prunoideae (or Amygdaloideae), but sometimes placed in its own family, the Prunaceae (or Amygdalaceae).

Nectarines are just smooth peaches

Pips are seeds like in oranges or apples ;)

I thought yanks use stones rather than Metric measures? You seem all messed up judging by your sig. Shouldn't it read IMPERIAL or something?

Serious?

We (the UK) use stones (weight) and pounds... The US exclusively use pounds, they have no idea what a stone is...:p

You're not one of those weird people that say they are 182cm tall and weigh 73kg are you? (note most people have no idea how that actually compares to them... ;))

Metric has been taught since 1960 and solely since 1974 -38 years! It's time we gave up on the old stuff.

We use grams. Its the law that all food that isn't easily countable (apples, pears etc..) is sold in grams.

Stuff might be marked a pound but you're buying 454g.
