Hey guys,
I figured id ask this here as im sure someone here has seen this issue before, or has heard of it.
Recently when gaming the game will freeze ( like a lag/rubberband affect ) then the monitor will just turn off, the system is still running but no output, the only way to correct this is via a reboot,
This has only happened 3 times, the first time i figured i would upgrade GFX drivers etc, then it didnt happen again for like a week or so, did it again, then nothing again for like 3 weeks.
I have a 8800GTX running ( 1000w PSU )
I used CPUID HWMonitor to watch temps, and it records that on idle the card is pushing out nearly 73C, yet the system monitor only shows about 60C i think on both cases this is a little high to be fair, but there is decent cooling in the system, 2 intake 2 out at back,
I did notice on ( and have heard others say ) the card itself, where the heatsink attaches to the card, you can see i guess where the thermal compound would be, and it does look like its solid but im not sure if its the thermal compound or something else, i heard that removing the heatsink and using Artic Silver 5 can make a big difference, but im not sure how just how difficult it is to remove said heatsink....
Like ive said, this is not a consistant issue but id like to fix it before it becomes one.
Thanks Guys
