I have a weird copy paste bug!

i dont use av, just defender, i was thinking of wiping my drives too, they're backed up any way.
i will have a look for the dump and report back.

The more I've thought about it, the more I wonder if it might be malware given that it survived a refresh. Can you download some AV. I think Avast has a free or trial version and I know Malwarebytes does. I think Avast also has a bootscan mode of some sort (you might have to start in Safe Mode and run it manually) which would be worth doing.

interesting problem - I forgot the first rule of fight club - google it .... seems it is known
just have to dredge through meaningless MS employee responses

Error file being written non stop/copy paste issue
C:\Users\owner\AppData\Local\Temp\PRODUCT_NAME_UNKNOWN_CrashDumpPRODUCT_VERSION_MAJOR_UNKNOWN-PRODUCT_VERSION_MINOR_UNKNOWN-2018-07-24--04-49-44_.dmp

Everytime i try to use the past function this :

C:\Users\owner\AppData\Local\Temp\PRODUCT_NAME_UNKNOWN_CrashDumpPRODUCT_VERSION_MAJOR_UNKNOWN-PRODUCT_VERSION_MINOR_UNKNOWN-2018-07-24--04-50-02_.dmp pops up.

And every time its the address of a new file.

These files are being written to my Local APPDATA in the TEMP folder.

Windows wont stop writing this file.

Ive tried power cycling, cutting power to the mobo.

My Company's IT manager is totally at a loss as well.

edit - multiple comments suggesting
Turned out to be a corrupt Realtek High Definition driver. Uninstalled, reinstalled and all is fine..

I suggested this as a possibility earlier. If we can see the contents of the dump as I asked about, we can possibly identify which. However driver reinstallation would have presumably been done as part of the reinstallation buzzlightweight already did, which is why I suspect it might be malware.

Hiya, I did google it, I’ve had this bug for a while, I guess my googleFU is not as strong as I thought.
Thank you jpaul I will try when I’m home.
h4rm0ny I thought I mentioned there are Nvidia mentions in the dump, sorry I must have neglected that :(
I do appreciate the help though :)

Perhaps I missed it? Well then reinstall all your Nvidia drivers and see if it resolves. Though if it survived a reinstall, I'm going with pre-boot malware. Good luck!

I’m going to install the av you suggested and test my system first.
If they doesn’t turn anything up then I’ll uninstall the audio drivers.

If that doesn’t work then I’m going to cry....... again

ok so i ran the av in safe mode and it found nothing, I then followed jpauls link.
I uninstalled and reinstalled RT audio and that seams to have cleared it.

I just want to say thank you so much, I really appreciate your time and help :)
