I have an excuse to buy some goodies!

This is the next lens I'll be buying. I've seen it new for £824 which seems quite reasonable. However, I walked into a high street shop today just to have see how I like it and they wanted over £1100 for it. They didn't have any batteries charged for their 30D  either so I couldn't use it. Still wouldn't have bought it from them anyway so it's not like they've lost out on a sale. They're probably dropping in price as I've heard a rumour that an IS version will be out in the next 12 months.

Back on topic I'd second the sigma 10-20 or canon 10-22 if you can afford the extra.

I went into the same shop in Belfast yesterday and had my 30D with me. Managed to test it and all I can say is WOW. So sharp. I then told the sales guy about being able to get it from £720 delivered and the started into this speech that the shop is wonderful and the service is great and that's how they can justify the price of the lens.

Well there are two completely different kinds of customers. If you are not going to need support from the shop, and get all your repairs and adjustment work done by CPS, then there is no reason to buy from the shop (an thus supporting it).

But for other buyers who want to talk to someone knowledgable and get assistance when they need it, there is every reason to buy from the store front and support it.
