I just phoned a place down the road who are looking for an administrator. I asked for the individual whose name was on the ad, and he asked me a few questions then booked me in for an interview on Monday. I've actually overstated the formality of the conversation, it was very informal indeed. First he said that I have to send a CV, then he said just bring it down when you come for an interview. I forgot to ask about the dress code, does anyone have any ideas? It's a nightclub, by the way. Any additional advice? :o :)

just wear a suit always makes a good impression on first meeting then you can find out dress code during the interveiw.

my bad its friday and i'm tired :p

Bare minimum: Clean shoes, trousers, shirt. If you overdress for an interview it won't reflect badly.

Spot on I can't imagine anyone not getting a job because they turned up suited and booted but I'm sure plenty would fail for showing up in jeans and a t-shirt!

Wouldn't wearing loads of furniture to an interview be quite uncomfortable?

Same here, I reckon it would be a major inconvenience, at least.

Any job I went to an interview for, the interviewer always commented on how proffesional I looked with my full suit. When your other competitors are baseball cap, tracksuit wearing chavs and you've got a suit, it doesn't take a genius to guess who's going to get the job.

The first thing an employer looks at is your shoes. Make sure they're clean and if appropriate, shiny shiny.

It was the best advice my dad gave to me!

No, that WILL help, that is a VERY good guide and I'd be interested to know why you took the time to compile it and where you got the expertise...

Well I had some notes years ago (collected over 20 years :p) and I always kept them with me. I've had more interviews than hot dinners since i was a contactor for over 10 years. Over the last 6 years I've been interviewing too.

Two years ago was so quiet at work and i decided to look around for a job myself.. So I typed up the notes I had and posted since there were quite a few people asking at the time.. Took me about a week to compile between what little work i did have.

Hope it does help because it did hep me.. on many occasion.

The worst I've had is "How do others see you as?"

I had that once! The girl interviewing me was HOT, so i said "they see me as a very sexy person" she started laughing and i got the job! :D
