Oh well
Serves me right for not checking my ISP email account and hogging all the bandwidth ;)
I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before they done something about it
Time to change ISP?

hehe
i am thinking sky BB as i allready have TV with them (£10 for the max plan)
or VM cable.. but i am not too sure

join the club, iv been capped for a month now for using it too much last december. DLed 44GB which is 4GB over what they consider fair... Serves me right for going with AOL.

If you have access to cable then jump ship, ADSL isn't going anywhere fast (literally).

Rubbish. Hes being done for hogging bandwidth not speed, and imo leachers need a good slapping. If you want to upload/download 24/7 pay for it.

So you saying that on Virgin Media you're free to download 300+GB a month?

I was referring to the technology itself - BT don't seem interested in anything over 8Mb, while Virgin are comfortably on 20Mb (yes I know a few people don't get this, but everyone I speak to at work who is on the service gets what they pay for) and looking to increase. Just because you're happy with ADSL doesn't mean I'm talking crap.

Yes if you schedule it overnight.

I'm not bothered much at the moment, I'm getting 7Mb with O2 for £7.50 a month, but I know this is as fast as the line will go, and in the future won't be up to much. In an ideal world I'd be on cable and doing all my telephony stuff over IP.

That would be why they're rolling out ADSL2+, albeit slowly, with a trial running for the last 4 months, 84 exchanges enabled in the beginning of May and the rest coming over the next few years.
On the other hand, I'd agree that BT Wholesale ADSL isn't the place to be if you want to download much but don't want to pay for it - the costs involved for the ISP quickly get crazy.

BT Wholesale aren't the only ADSL provider either - there's plenty of LLU options available that offer ADSL2+ and will let you download the internet for pennies a month.

I'm with VM (20mb) have have no probs downloading more than that.

Here's my router log since July last year:

I've downloaded 450GB over the last month, danish ISP, very high speed, so can't see the problem there?
