I have just been ripped off badly

As you do, walk in get what you want a pay. bought some other bits too, paper etc...
well I walk in, see what is on offer, perform a quick cost benefit analysis, proceed to do a quick froogle with the prices of the products with the other supermarkets (yes, I know the prices I should be paying for each and every item I buy from a grocery store) and then pay.

I never walk in and pick stuff up

Man i remember when marathon bars were like 25p, good old marathon. Just like greggs sausage rolls, only a few years back they were 38p, now its like 60 odd. Shocking.

Greggs sausage rolls are much bigger than they used to be to be fair though.

WTF? Was at about 30p when I was at school.

As it has cost you a whopping 45p, try to eat it more slowly... :p

but if chomp bars can still be only 10p why are all the other chocolates go up so much?

Chomp bars are 15p now.

45p for a countline chocolate is not that expensive these days.

The problem I have is no coconut boosts or peanut (I suppose star bar is a substitute) And Cadbury's don't do Taz anymore (with caramel) just Freddo, (solid chocolate) Cadbury Dairy milk tastes to me verging on sweet/cheesy taste. It's confectionary, not chocolate.

Thing I've been eating most recently is the Wafer Dairy Milk bars, 3 250g bars for a £1 in my local market. That's the best way to get chocolate (in bulk) Sod paying 45, 50, 60 or 70p for 50g bars of 'chocolate'

don't worry about it, the average meal in my company susidised canteen is £3.75 and everyone is only on £5 / hour before tax - lolz. We do get ripped off in this country :(

Hate to point this out to you all but,

The reason they are all smaller / more expensive / taste different etc is :

1.) The cost of getting cocoa beans & sugar (from a worker in a 3rd world country, that we insist isn't paid 2p a day like they were 10 years ago) and the shocking price of UK milk. Both have increased many times the rate of inflation.
2.) The amount of artificial ingredients that we refuse to accept in food these days.....most have been removed from the bars(making todays chocolate taste less appetizing in general) - Natural flavours / colours and no preservatives all add to the cost (as does the reduced sell by dates)
3,) The amound spent of the packaging and wrappers - all are full colour (most foil) - which we also now need, so they stand out from the crowd.

Dad used to work for Mars & the reason most of the Revels flavours were dropped was the fact they were too expensive to make (whilst keeping the price of the bag the same) - In the end they just started reducing the amount of sweets in the bag ;)

On a related note...I am finding fewer and fewer places that do cans for 50p. The Don Millers in town used to do them for 50p, like 2 weeks ago! But now fewer and fewer places do them for 50p...only the Coca-Cola machine at work does them for 50p now! But I guess that is inflation for you...and what's 5-10p more anyway on a can?

You gotta remember it isnt REAL chocolate anyhow, so its even more of a rip-off! Or not what my wife would call real chocolate (she makes her own truffles etc - chocolatier for the win!).
