Depends what brand you have. If you have a Logitech:

1. Make sure its plugged in
2. Right click on "My computer" on your desktop and find the computer name
3. Type in the computer name on the keyboard followed by the PIN code (by default its 1111 on logitechs) and press ENTER
4. The keys raise up allowing you to take them off
5. When you're finished hit enter and the keys go back down again

Pretty nifty

LOL me just now:

Oh WOW - can't wait to try that when i get home...

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :p

PC Keyboard (Logitech G15) mainly has cat hairs!
MacBook Pro keyboard is perfectly clean (I'm very protective over it!)

Music Keyboard (Yamaha Portable Grand) I've never taken the keys off, but I know there's 50p of mine in there :(

Pfft, I just buy a new keyboard to be honest.

My mate spent about 3 hours cleaning his keyboard last year. He cleaned it carefully by taking off all the keys, hoovering it out, wiping and polishing all the keys etc.

After THREE whole hours of this, he places his pristine keyboard back to find it no longer worked. :o
lol n00b

A condom  please don't ask. That was in my old Saitek Eclipse though, I've had this G11 for about a week or two now, so it's just the odd crisp crumb here and there.

We had a test done on some random keyboards at work once.

The results were quite obscure.

Largest common factor was MRSA followed by Cannabis

The stuff in between the keys however was enough to make baby Allah cry

Looking into the bottom of mine I have a sort of glossy bacteria on the bottom of my keyboard. It's not even that old either !

Followed by lots of crumbs. :D

My last keyboard's contents consisted mostly of:
Dust
Crumbs
Coke
A few nail clippings(always wondered where they flicked off too :p)
Hairs(from various parts of the body)

Now I try and keep this keyboard a bit clean lol.

I can take all my keys out, wash and dry them, get the gunk off my keyboard, replace the keys and use the keyboard again - all in about 45 minutes.

Or you can cheat, and remove the front fascia of the keyboard with the keys, chuck in the washer with a couple of towels, and put it on a 40c wash.:)

And yes, I have done the washer one before. :o

Dish washer gives a nicer finish I find

Not lazy enough to have one of those. :p

Whatever you do, never put a keyboard in water hotter than 40c. If put them in a 60c or 95c wash, then you'll probably end up with weird shaped keys. :D

I used to have one of those lovely see-thru keyboards from the original iMacs. It was the best keyboard I've ever used, but the amount of filth it collected over the course of three years meant it had to be destroyed.

Where do you work - an NHS cannabis research facility? Where do I sign?!....

Is this for real? Sounds crazy!

I just usually ply the keys off with a spoon

Either you have the world's smallest hampton, or that's a talented jonnie (to slip under several keys!) Explain. ;)

That logitech thing doesn't work btw... I tried it simply because I thought there might be a chance something would happen...

I've never cleaned my keyboard other than wiping it with my fingers.

i once got sucked into the hole underneath my backspace key by mystical space wind, i cried afterwards.

i also found bread crumbs.
