Well, the IS dept. have decided to be homoghey and crack down on 'non-approved software' so away with Firefox, ObjectDock and various other handy bits of software.
Basically means I have to spend three times as long doing anything and my taskbar is full of IE instances :(

What annoys me in particular is that when I launch all of my favourites using a batch file (six or seven pages I need for work), IE sort of tiles them across the screen rather than opening them all on top of each other.
This wouldn't be a problem normally but I have my screen arranged with multiple apps showing at once so the IE windows overlap the other programs.
Anyone got any idea how to stop it doing this without installing any software?

TIA

Si.

Software needs to go through loads of testing etc... before they will allow it on our network. If it is not approved it isn't getting installed!

Seems your company is behind a little. :)

That might actually be an option in the short term although it'd probably prompt a quick re-hash of their policy document to include usage of software on the network rather than solely installation.

I can give it a shot anyway :p

Anyone got any ideas on how to tame the IE beast?

You'd think a software house would be on top of things like that but clearly not :(

Most companies will only usually support one bit of software - either Internet Explorer or Firefox, not both.

I never realised how lucky I am here at work. I use Opera on my machine and my 2 colleagues use Firefox. All 3 of use Thunderbird and I've got no end of programs installed aswell as games :D

No help to you of course

I can't stand IE7, its slow and just keeps crashing on my pc

firefox is brilliant though, never crashed on me once.
