I just bought Quake 4 and FEAR

Really dont see what the fuss is all about with FEAR, I bought the PC version and never got around to playing it, so went and bought the 360 version when that was released and although I played it for a couple of weeks I've never really got into it, it was just far to samey for me - walk through empty corridors then into huge open areas for a massive gun fights with multiple enemies and repeat over and over again. I recently gave the PC version a try as I was bored and wanted to see how my new rig dealt with it and if anything I found that one even harder to get into.

Quake 4 on the other hand whilst it doesn't really add anything to the FPS genre like Quake, Quake 2 and Quake 3 Arena did it's just a really fun shooter IMO.

Personally for me its Quake 4 > FEAR

Never played Quake here, I've completed FEAR though and would agree with the comments above that there isn't enough variety in the game. All the scenery is very samey and the bad guys stay pretty much the same throughout the game. The combat and graphics are excellent though.

Played both on a 7800GTX 2 gig mem [email protected] and then on the rig in spec and although both were great on my earlier machine, i can run both now at full settings and 16AA/AF and it makes a massive difference to both games, same game play but more immersive (certainly for FEAR).
XFi and 5.1 speakers make a big difference as well.
