I just don't get it......

It's entertainment at the end of the day thats it.

Similar principle with Most Haunted, it's most likely fake, but it's entertaining.

I can't understand why people like Neighbours.

Basically wrestling is like a soap opera with silly stunts and ridiculous story lines. The actual moves, whilst acrobatic aren't actually the fun/funny side at all. As has been said above, brilliant low brow entertainment.

What I found wierd was the fact that when i was about 8 i loved wrestling, we used to play with hulk hogan figures etc, and watch hacksaw jim duggan etc.. then we all seemingly grew out of it...

until i was about 15, and all the lads in school seemed to be bang into wrestling again!

i didnt really see the appeal that time around, but people were really into it, paying for wrestlemania ppv etc

I used to absolutely love it when I was around 13-15, used to watch it every Friday night when I got the house to myself :)

It's only a bit of fun tbh, don't take it so seriously.

This.

At the end of the day, it's still unpredictable entertainment. I enjoyed it when I was about 10, but soon realised that the acting was just SO bad it was painful.

Wresting is portrayed as unpredictable, the fact of the matter is it is scripted choreographed rubbish.

You have the referee handing blood packs on the sly to these guys so then can fake cuts, then you have all the rubbish with the chairs, hitting each other with them, not to mention the fact that is someone really jumped of a ladder and landed with a knee in your chest you would in all likely hodd be seriously injured.

What's your point? You seem to be missing the key word: entertainment

You don't go to a movie and complain that it's scripted do you? Sure, not everybody likes it (I don't, but I hate football even more), but others do. The only difference between this and football is the fact that it is scripted. However when you start watching either of them, you don't know how it is going to end.

Used to watch it religously but not anymore....

Still do keep up with whats happening and take in the majority of the PPV's at the ends of the months. Still enjoy them and I have to say some of the wrestlers are extremely talented.

Treat it as a soap opera and its all good imo :) as shauns been saying....entertainment.

they do get seriously injured

people have been badly injured, paralysed and killed in training and in live shows.

its those risks that make it entertaining to a lot of people. the same way people find extreme sports entertaining because they want to see people take big falls

anyway i recommend anyone (wrestling fan or not) to watch the documentary "beyond the mat"

great way to put it. people go watch plays , tv and films. are they idiots too ? doesnt the op 'get' that either ?

im havent watched wrestling since my childhood but i can see how people find it entertaining. its not meant to be taken seriously, if you take it all with a pinch of salt then its pretty funny

I understand the appeal, its like an opera or something, a big stage show.

And there is a lot of talent involved in executing the moves correctly.

Its just not my cup of tea really :)
