....to SKYDIVE!!! After many many hours of patience sitting around on the ground, copious amounts of money and even more adrenaline, I can now lob myself out of a plane without instruction!! :D All I can say is that I am over the moon right now and if anybody has ever thought about doing a skydive, then DO IT!! There is nothing like 14,000 feet, having the door of the plane open and then bail out, its almost magical the feeling! Freefaller, we have got to get to the same DZ one day!! Here is a picture of my happy self:

Just had to share some excitement!!!

Nice One. Can i lob you out of a plane?

How much do lessons cost? and how much does a licence cost?

Each lesson/jump costs £35 after your initial first jump course (which teaches you all about the equipment, what you do in the plane, how to live etc). The licence itself costs £10 for the admin, and now the jump prices tumbles to about £10 - £15 a jump depending on altitude. In all it took me 31 jumps to get the licence, others do it in 20, some take 50, depends how good you are in the air basically.

I'm soooo far away from getting my D licence... I doubt I'll ever get it - I don't jump as much as I used to (it's been many many months now :()

This thread has made me want to get another licence. I've got too many as it is but another can't hurt. I've always wanted to give skydiving a go but never got round to it.

Where did you do it from?

I'm doing mine as part of the uni club as well. There seems to be a lot of uni people who join, and for whatever reason after about 50-100 jumps seem to disappear. Guessing its the same reason as you freefaller, they get bored and try something else. There seems to be a gap of skydivers with around 100-500 jumps, there is plently of 500+ jumpers and less than 50, but a low number of intermediate jumpers. I know in previous years the uni club has had many members, now theres about 2 or 3 that regularly jump now that they have left uni....

The complete opposite end of the country from where you live! Which means the weather tends to be worse for us. :(

I live in cannock, about half an hour from birmigham and i go to uni in leicester. I dont suppose there is a place that does it near either of the two?

I would love to start this and its not that expencive. But knowing my luck there wont be a diving center any where near me!
