I just had to have it

Personally I would rather spend that sort of money on a shiny new Radeon HD 7950... but that's just me! :)

Lego was good fun as a kid, but I don't understand the facination as an adult. The markup / profit on that model must be insane.

This is a bigger waste of money than that person's football cards. But have fun with your toy :)

:D Agree! I can think of so much more I'd rather spend £350 on. I'm guessing you don't have a mortgage, car to run or need to pay for the cost of living?!! Lucky you being able to waste that amount of cash on an achievement like that...

And that's your choice what you spend your money on. Personally I don't smoke, barely drink, and don't drive a car (eyesight) and what i spend my money on (after mortgage and cost of living) is up to me ... :)

Quite an assumption there!
As it happens, I don't have a mortgage, but I do run a car.

As I said before, I consider this to be a long term investment, as well as something fun to build, so I don't consider it to be a waste. :)

I watched a documentary on lego and to build a custom mould is around £150,000 so there are VERY few custom parts made for anything due to the massive cost.

Also lego are the worlds biggest tyre manufacturer lol.

The Forklift Transporter, which doubled as a Car transporter (#8872) was my fav lego kit.

The One Arm digger (#8837) almost had me in tears of frustration trying to build it. (It doesn't look it, but it was one complicated mofo)

I was saving up for #8868 - Logger - before I decided I grew out of lego. One of the few regrets in my life.

Fair enough :).......after seeing monkee's collection, I don't think your one lego purchase is quite so much of a waste of money.......!!!

Interesting show, goes through the creation of a lego set and what happens in the lego factories.

I bet his single item costs more than my collection ;)

Don't see the big deal, I can afford it, I enjoy making it. Jobs a good'un :)

I want this, just can't secure the funds for it... well I can but they are going into spending money savings for my USA trip!

Maybe after! :D

Monkee's collection is quite small ... unfortunately I can't access image hosts from work ;)

Mate, I hear that far too oten :( ....... :p

Seriously?!! Doesn't look cheap...and looks like you're taking over your house with it! ........perhaps next - the world!!!!

£68 for the A-wing kit an hanger/op centre
£50 for the X-Wing
£35 for the droid fighter I think
£35 for the Hoff set (scenery and snow speeder)
Think the Star Destroyer was £15, but my brother bought that!

Where as in actual "this is fact" land, the opposite tends to be true :) Very few pieces are actual custom moulded, I'm always surprised by this when I'm making them. Even on that kit, zoom in and I can't even spot any custom pieces!

On an aside, I love star wars lego - although pretty much only the old stuff! Wish I could get hold of some TIE fighters :(

Aye, it doesn't look like it contains any more custom pieces than the classic "space lego" from the 70's and 80's.

Nothing like the modern "pirate lego" range, where half the hull of a ship is a single moulded piece/
