I just want to play the ******* game!!!

if we're moaning about the state of modern games, recently been re-playing assasins creed 3 (you know those random notions) and whilst normally you'd expect me to be complaining about uplay, logging in, servers being down etc.

nope, what got me was how horrendously broken the single player campaign was, random audio dropouts during cutscenes, not clearing the map of side missions during a main quest mission, characters randomly being aggressive when they shouldn't be, the map and fast travel system being constantly screwed up (where you'd have to fast travel within say boston, to get the map to allow you to fast travel to the rest of the map), even got killed by a wolf that jumped me during a cutscene which was amusing to watch.

it's almost like ubisoft decided "nobody's playing this anymore save for nostalgia, lets revert to the release build"

or slightly changing the volume(!?) on the tape recorder to make it work. WTF was all that about.

I bet you made the mistake of actually daring to breath within 30' of the thing as it loaded. Many things caused mine to fail to load, breathing, a car going down the street, a wagon going down the main road at the end of the street, someone shouting in the backs, blinking to hard, the phone ringing, somebody having the audacity to flush the toilet, scratching, in fact movement of any kind. Things got a bit better when I got the Spectrum +2, but it still failed to bloody load at times.

Reminds me of one of my pet hates - publishers who sunset a game so it can't be played any more, sometimes in an attempt to force people towards their newer stuff, without making any provision for the game to continue working i.e. via offline patch, community servers, source release, etc.

I never buy a game again on principle from any publisher which does that.

A *Cough* friend had loads of games on C90 tapes, these were always really dodgy as "he" had to change the little speed thing on the tape deck to get games to load....anyone remember fiddling with a screwdriver before playing a game? Sometimes even legit ones, I remember Gryzor being one (scarred for life) which was a real pain.
OP, I think we all hate having to log into 101 accounts to play games, I dont see why we have to just to play single player but I guess they have to collect that data.

thing is, it's not ubisoft's servers etc are the problem they're all working fine (at least for me)

it's the actual game itself is just broken now in a way that it wasn't before.
