Finally had my first prang...

Nothing huge.. basically I was in the car park of my local Tesco, its a horridly tight junction, I looked left, then right.. nothing and off I go.. suddenly as i'm bringing my car round.. theres a vauxhall frontera and crack...

Luckily zero damage to me (Asides from a very sore back..) and the Focus purley cosmetic, but i've put her door in... never realised how Solid the Focus was :D

We exchanged details and I proceeded into Tesco for what I was there for.. A tin of De-oderant..

I'll upload some photos when I get home..

Bye bye NCB me thinks :( because I don't see this going 50/50..

Sorry to hear about your accident, but it does concern me that you have such little faith in your driving ability that you were expecting to have a crash soon. Have you considered any extra lessons or an IAM course or something?

I have faith in my abilities, but I just knew that it would happen at some point, that's all...

Also can someone explain how this works? i've never thought about ever having to place a claim... i'm going to the hospital momentairily to have my back checked because I am sore as anything :(

If you think she was driving too fast for the area then don't bend over, fight for 50/50.

The speed at which some of the women in 4x4s drive around in my area is absolutely ridiculous. They will literally drive *at* you.

Not much chance of that swinging any other way than being totally your fault if you drove into the side of her I'm afraid :(

I hate supermarkets. Whoever designs the layouts needs shooting. You usually have to have eyes in the back of your head with all the turnings on top of one another, or crossings every 2 feet, or one way lanes that people go the wrong way down, etc etc. Plus it's usually full of people dithering about... (not saying the OP is one of these types but you know what I mean). Just have to be extra careful.

I had a prang in a carpark for my first accident as well, I pulled out of a space and a woman who worked in the shop, who was driving like a nutter trying to get home, came round a corner and drove along the front of my car. She admitted fault at the time, but then later on she decided to claim, and without witnesses I got nowhere.

I asked the store for the CCTV footage and it was mysteriously 'lost' and they couldn't supply it. I argued for months but got nowhere and in the end they settled it in favour of her. Apparently because I was still partially in the bay (I stopped when I saw her coming) I had infringed on her right of way and in the words of the insurance assesor I was 'an unexpected object in the roadway'. I got really angry at that and asked the guy if he would be saying something similar if the woman had come round the bend at the same speed and killed a child because it was an unexpected object in the roadway, he did not have an answer.

Just checked Ask MID - her reg isn't on there :(

even if she is not insured, youre not claiming off her anyway

even if by some act of god you get 50/50, your ncb is still shafted, and there is no way on earth she was fully responsible, you drove into the side of a car that was infront of you
