I lack motivation...

The only games i have ever completed are below - Games like BF2 are much easier to play, however I really dont have the time to play games/cant be bothered anymore. When your on a PC all day, you dont really want to sit on games at home for hours. I'll admit i really enjoyed the first few levels of Crysis before it got all alieny (same goes for half life)

Soldier of fortune
Soldier of fortune 2
Kingpin
Call of Duty 1
Redalert 1
MOHAA
Half Life
Farcry
Crysis

I've pretty much given up on all SP games now. Unless its a quick SP campaign and involves killing people with guns I'm not interested.

*what a lovely person I must be*

another person who cant finish games here, I find it really annoying. I even went down to a shop today and had both bioshocks in my hand looking to complete them. But I cant even finish what I have so I put them back.
I think to myself that maybe my time is up with gaming (im only 30 too :() but then why do I always look out for new games and really want to get into a good game. I cant be ready to give up if Im always on the look for games??? MW2 has been the only game recently I had drilled, but like a lot of you have an unfinshed list:

mine is:

Dragon Age origins
Assassins creed 2
Arkham asylum

Someone fix me, I dont wanna give up gaming!!

Lately, I havent had the motivation to finish any games.

Even if the game interests me, and I've enjoyed playing it I will switch it off 1 day, then not have the motivation to pick it back up. I just lose interest and it will sit unfinished :(

Examples
Modern Warfare 2 SP.. got half way and put it down.
Assassins Creed 2.. got to the carnival scene and just stopped.

Worryingly, I also have games in my collection that I know I will never get around to playing such as Dead Space. It's not that I don't want to, but I bought it in the Christmas/January 2008 sales and never got around to it.

Another example is Uncharted 2. I loved the first, and had the second for Christmas 2009 yet I have no motivation to open it and start playing for fear it will get abandoned in the same way as the other games.

Anyone else the same?

Im similar - sometimes. Some games (like MW2) I could sit and play the whole campaign in one go! Other games like mass effect 2 I can just sit down and get immersed in the world and play it for half a day straight. But for me fallout 3 is a great example of a game I couldnt get into, Im gonna try again sometime soon though.

It just takes that push for me, once Ive sat back down and started playing then Im fine but its getting myself to do so.

Get Guitar Hero: Van Halen :p For some reason I think you'd quite like it :D

Well you may just have to come to terms that the love for SP games has gone. It totally has for me. Now that I know this I'm enjoying my purchases a lot more. It also suits my game time as I usually only play for an hour or 2.

I know how you feel, I almost have to force myself to play games as i just don't enjoy them as much :(

I would take a few months break and see how you feel afterwards or go hardcore MP game!

I'll have to come clean and admit that I've never ever completed any games, whether PC or Console. I won a load of PS3 games in December and haven't even bothered to unwrap them as I know I'll spend a few hours with each at most.

Low boredom threshold me (plus crap at gaming no doubt!)

Happens to me too! I have about 2-3 hours of Assassins Creed 2 on the 360 left, but i just can't be bothered and i also bought, Fallout 3, Red Faction Guirilla, Far Cry 2, Operation Dragon Rising and Resistance 2 all for the PS3 as i hardly touch it and only played Far Cry 2 out of all of them for an hour or two :/

Thanks for the replies. It seems I'm not the only slacker ;)

It's not the love for the games.. I loved Arkham Asylum, but some games fall by the way-side simply because I can't find the time to finish/start them.

Another example that some may relate to;

Opened Assassins Creed 2 on boxing day, gave it a blast for a few hours and enjoyed it. Played it for the few days between the Christmas-New Year period and sat it down again.

Anyway, between going out to parties, looking after the dog etc etc I never found a suitable day/time to play it. Even when the mrs went out I thought "hmmm, play the game on my own or call the lads and get them over for some multiplayer?".

Now the problem seems to be getting back in to the game because I've either a) forgotten the controls or b) I've forgotten what the hell is happening in the story or c) would rather play local multiplayer than sit alone in the house playing a game.

Can't play songs on GH that I know how to play. The muscle memory in my hands counteracts anything I see on screen!

I must say as crap as Alone in the Dark was, I did like the 'Previously on Alone in the Dark' recaps as I didn't play it for long periods in between.

I'm like this at the moment.

I blame it solely on world of warcraft. It's got me tight in its clenches and won't let go.

I'm really bad for completing games. I've only managed to complete Modern Warfare 1 & 2 and got the following games to start playing as I've not even touched them yet:

inFamous
Killzone 2
Batman AA
Uncharted 2
Bayonetta

I'm a little in Uncharted 1 and Fifa 10 takes up a lot of my time. The crazy thing is I've got quite a few preorders forthcoming too (Bad Company 2, GOW3, Just Cause 2)

I need a week off :D

I wish games weren't so long. It seems to be a selling point in game reviews ("it'll last you 25 hours on your first playthrough!") - I don't want that. I'd rather have a really high quality 8-10 hour game that I can actually finish (and be bothered to) than one that lasts so bloody long I just can't be bothered to go back to it.

The ones I've enjoyed most and/or completed have been relatively short games, but REALLY good for the duration they last.

Join the club matey, don't feel like playing the whole length these days. Only games I have completed properly in the past few years have been MW1 and MW2, usually these days I just play a quick game of Fifa or Ashes cricket here and there..

i think you have a good point here, i feel the same way sometimes! but then some games, need length..for instance a good rpg wouldnt be able to be crammed into 8-10 hours i dont think.

I seem to go through phases. I can put 10's of hours into a game over a week (Think 50 in Lost Odyessy is my best) weeks on end, then just go through a slump like I had in January. Didn't play anything for two weeks, but in the last week I completed Magna Carta 100% and i'm 12 hours into Mass Effect.

Having a part time job helps mind.
