I love Mint 7

Not really - the word "ubuntu" comes from African and has a roughly direct translation of "couldn't configure Debian" ;)

EDIT: rather than a double post...

That's retarded. Windows doesn't come bundled with flash or mp3 support and people use that... (ok... not sure about mp3 support... but still!)

I was referring to your comment, not the OS.

haha, oh God, I've got a bit confused. I was saying that when people post sarcastic 'ubuntu with a green skin so it must be good' comments, it doesn't make the linux community stronger, rather turns people away. I think Mint 7 is good, irrespective of it not being 'proper' linux, and I think that most people would agree - just a green skinned ubuntu or otherwise.

Sorry, .walls, didn't mean to quote you. :-)

Im a total noob to linux, I'm typing this from the live cd of Mint while its installing in the background. Very impressed so far at the ease of use.

OP, I beleive you about everything but all the games you have tried working better than windows :p I could never get wine to work very well.

Same here, I've never had any luck with wine at all, always seems to be my sound that crashes it. I can play for hours with sound off but that's no fun :p

been testing it out this week and i really like it.
Works well and has all the extra features apart from one which i add to Ubuntu when i install that.
been trying the 32bit so downloading the 64bit and installing that next :)

Ubuntu dudes do an absolute marvellous job of making the distro what it is and the mint dudes add that little touch that's needed to highly polish it.

Dx9 installed and every game I've tried to install so-far has worked so smoothly

Seriously? I can't even get Plants vs Zombies to run smoothly through Wine, never mind anything else!

What does wine-doors offer over wine?

Does mint have smb/Windows workgroup browsing sorted by default? I'm a linux newb when it comes to networking, and have somehow destroyed all semblance of normality when it comes to samba on my current ubuntu install :/

Lucky you, my Belkin Wireless N USB stick doesn't work no matter what i do. Going to try a different one soon...

Hehe...well my Belkin F5D7000 PCI wireless NIC worked fine once I set up the security keys etc......I was impressed that my wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, nforce 2 onboard sound even worked without user help lol .

Pretty impressed with Mint so far :).
