I've been using an internal PCI modem for a few years and although it's never been super reliable, it's always been tolerable, until now that is.
Now I'm getting disconnections every 5-10 mins (literally) and it's making online gaming completely impossible.
I've been told a router will hold a connection far better than an internal modem, so that's clearly the way forward.
So what I'm after is the cheapest router possible that will do the job, I don't need any frills, just something that will plug into the wall and give me a stable connection!
Help meeeeeeeeeeeeeee......

If you don't mind spending a little bit more then take a look at the Billion or SMC ranges we do. They look a bit dull but do their job well.

Are you *sure* it's not a line/filter/isp issue ? Just if it is you can spend as much as you want and are unlikley to see any change.

If you are getting the conditions indicated then it aint your card. The pci cards are at least as reliable as a router and indeed perhaps more so. I prefer the Connexant chipset due to the excellent software indicating the line conditions etc and can they be had for only a £5. Course your OS may be 4xed
