Hi folks,

Does anybody know of any good wifi modem/routers?

Heck, I would even consider buying business class and evading the home stuff like Netgear WNDR4000. However, if you have experience with home wifi router and you feel it is an excellent buy then ofcourse I will consider you input which is valued.

I am trying to replace my WAG160N which to be honest is a nightmare, after just one year that thing is dropping connection constantly, does not offer true dual band as promised on the box and the admin software is basic at best (put it this way, it can't do bridging lol).

Any advice is welcome! Thanks folks.

Well for a start, the netgear WND products are all cable (sans modem) its the DGN products that have an internal modem. I recently got a DGND3700 and its epically good.

I mainly go netgear because i like the browser interface. Its simple and clean but powerful.

Asus RTN-16
Netgear WNDR3700

I have the 2nd one and it's fast and reliable in all aspects and Netgear have been outing firmware updates every few moths.

Edit*
Ah you're not cable....fail!

Ah right, ok... regarding Netgear and for ADSL I need to look for the same number but DGN infront. You have no idea how much you just saved me there, well actually you do because you get the hint! XD

I have been trying to find reviews for the newer Netgear products and I can't seem to find any from good review sites, maybe I will go back and look for the DGN equivalents lol.

Cheers folks, glad you both seem to like the Netgears and I agree... it's software layout for admin stuff is good from what I remember.

:)

No worries :) I really don't like Netgears product naming conventions because i dont think they are particularly well explained or thought out.

Something i like about the router i mentioned is it has a ethernet modem port, in case you ever decided to switch over :)

Something else to be aware of, is that most available home level modem-routers today are ADSL2+ which has a theoretical maximum download speed of 24Mbit/s. The new services such as BT Infinity use VDSL2 which has a theoretical maximum download speed of 200Mbit/s.

It's just something to be aware of in case you move to a higher speed line anytime soon, that the modem in most commercially available routers wont work.

Hi folks, sorry fdor the long wait... I bought the DGND3700. OMG... brilliant piece of kit. I am very impressed by it and was shocked it was basically WNDR3700 with an ADSL port added.

Bunny, you are a legend indeed. Thanks for the suggestion on the model, I want with it and I am not disappointed at all.
